Engel Encourages New Yorkers to Sign Up For Health Coverage During Open Enrollment

NEW YORK, NY -- Congressman Eliot L. Engel, a top member on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, marked the start of the health insurance open enrollment period by encouraging New Yorkers to explore their insurance options and sign up for coverage.

November 1st marks the start of New York’s health insurance open enrollment period. From now until January 31, 2018, you can purchase a plan or renew your coverage through New York State of Health, the state’s health insurance marketplace. If you sign up by December 15th, you can get coverage that starts on January 1, 2018.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On Monday night, Firefighters from Station 3 at 756 North Avenue miraculously resuscitated an unresponsive toddler brought directly to the station by his frantic parents just after 7PM.  On Wednesday, grateful couple Amanda Capraro and Matthew Pino brought Angelo (16 mos) and his brother Matthew Jr. back to the firehouse to express their gratitude to the members of Squad 1 (Engine 23 and Ladder 13): Lt Tom Moriarity, Lt Joe Sinatra, and Firefighters Peter Cordaro, Vincent Costa, Billy Colangelo, Frank Gagliardo, and Ryan Pascuzzi.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- In the only public poll conducted for one of the most closely watched races this season, incumbent Republican Rob Astorino and Democrat George Latimer are locked in a statistical tie for Westchester County executive.

In a just-released RNN and The Journal News/lohud.com poll, 51% of respondents say they would support Latimer and 49% would vote for Astorino if the election were held today.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- As they have done each year since 9/11, more than 130 organizations in Westchester and Fairfield Counties will join together for the Annual Thanksgiving Diversity Breakfast on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 7:30 – 10:00 am at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.  They will celebrate our diverse roots and shared values with particular focus this year on “healing our fractured society” in the wake of such a divisive year.
