NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Four exceptional New Rochelle High School seniors were honored by the New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence at its 20th Annual Awards Gala at The Fountainhead banquet hall on Thursday, April 19.

The students were Jonathan Saddler, Andrew Sorota, Annael Alvarez and Zahra Masih.

Several NRHS alumni and other community members were also honored. They were:

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A highlight from the PAVE Band & Orchestra Concert last night: The PAVE Orchestra filled the Linda E. Kelly Theatre in New Rochelle High School with the sounds of the "Capriol Suite," a work by a little-known English composer Peter Warlock, who lived 1894-1930.

Suzanne Morello, NRHS orchestra director, conducts.

Warlock set Renaissance melodies to modern harmonies, explains Marc Schneider, City School District of New Rochelle Director of Art and Music.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Here's New Rochelle's team Prestige stepping their way to victory in a contest in the Midwest.

The step team, with members from New Rochelle High School and Albert Leonard and Isaac E. Young middle schools, traveled to Lyons Township High School in Willow Springs, Illinois, for the competition. They were one of eight teams. The others were from Illinois and Indiana.

Prestige came in first place.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A four month investigation by Talk of the Sound has revealed a cascading series of security failures in the immediate aftermath of a violent assault-stabbing incident on January 18th at New Rochelle High School. There appears to have been a deliberate effort by school officials to cover up those failures in the hours after the incident, an effort which continues to this day at the highest level of the City School District of New Rochelle.

McLeod on Thursday, May 17. Former New Rochelle Police Officer McLeod, was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 14, 1977.

FBI Arrests New Rochelle High School Student in Alabama for January Stabbing Incident

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Bryan Stamps has been arrested in Alabama by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, ending a four-month manhunt for a high school who stabbed a classmate in January.

Stamps will be extradited to New York. He was apprehended at the home of his grandfather according to sources close to the investigation.

New Rochelle police are expected to make an official statement in the near future.

Brice Task Force recommends armed police officers in New Rochelle High School, a modified Closed Campus policy; Task Force did not discuss the recent stabbings involving students or whether the district followed its own closed campus policy

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dr. Jonathon Brice, Chair of the Task Force on Reducing Violence in the Lives of Children and Youth. distributed today a draft of the Task Force report to all Task Force members and solicited feedback from them. Brice also distributed the draft report to the New Rochelle Board of Education, the City Manager and the Mayor in the belief that the report will likely be made public through social media. Brice expects to announce a date for a public meeting to present the recommendations of the Task Force.
