NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s basketball team dropped its second straight MAAC contest Sunday afternoon, falling to Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ, 75-65.  The Hawks killed the Gaels from long-range, shooting 55%, making a Gael opponent-high 11 triples on 20 attempts.

Sophomore Alexis Lewis scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 8-for-18 from the floor and 5-of-11 from deep.  Senior Marina Lizarazu, the reigning MAAC Player of the Week, scored 19 points and dished out a team-high four assists.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- An early 16-point advantage helped carry the Iona College men’s basketball team to a 90-76 MAAC victory at Niagara this afternoon in Western New York.

Despite suffering an early injury, Jon Severe led the Gaels (17-9, 10-5 MAAC) with 23 points behind five 3-pointers to go along with six rebounds and two steals. Rickey McGill scored all 19 of his points in the second half while tallying five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle men's basketball team picked up a huge Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory thanks to a 93-86 win over SUNY-ESF in action on Saturday.  The win puts New Rochelle in the driver's seat for post-season play, with one league game remaining against Pratt Institute on Monday.  CNR improves to 11-12 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle (CNR) has announced it will introduce three additional sports teams in fall 2017—women’s soccer, men’s cross country, and men’s baseball. With these additions, the College will offer a total of 13 NCAA Division III men’s and women’s teams competing in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women's water polo team (0-4, 0-0 MAAC) concluded the Brown tournament with a 14-7 defeat to the hands of the unbeated No. 16 Hartwick Hawks.

Junior Hannah Schultz led the Maroon & Gold with three goals, along with two kickouts drawn. Senior Rebecca Koshy tallied two goals, with juniors Megan Hofer and Kayla Allen each finding the scoresheet once. In goal, junior Britten Vilander stopped nine Hawks' shots and collected two steals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Women's Track & Field team opened its indoor season this past weekend with a ninth-place showing at the Towson Invitational at the Armory in New York and five runners qualified for nationals. 

Zakiya Denoon earned the first spot at nationals with a second-place time of 7.45 in the 60-meter dash.  She won her preliminary heat prior to her podium finish.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Basketball team spilt a pair of games at the Monroe Community College Tournament over the weekend.  The Mustangs defeated Jamestown CC, 75-65, but fell to Monroe CC, 79-74.  The team is now 15-6 overall.

Monroe had three players score double-figure points in the win over the Jamestown Jayhawks.  Donald Butler led the team with 15, while Hampus Ahlin and Bryan Assie each totaled 13.  The Mustangs jumped out to a nine-point lead at the half and went on to win by 10.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Monroe College sophomore Shania Johnson scored a game-high 30 points in an 82-69 triumph over Niagara County Community College on Saturday. The win marked the sixth-straight victory for the Mustangs and improved their record to 17-5.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- To open the Men's Basketball game on Saturday, Hudson Sonnenstein, five-year-old son of Monroe's Dean of Student Services, Mark Sonnenstein, sang the national anthem to hearty applause. After that, the Monroe College Men's Basketball team drew the cheers in an 81-60 victory over Niagara County Community College. The team improved to 18-7 on the season in the win.
