NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s basketball program earned its sixth straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference win Saturday afternoon, taking down Canisius at the Koessler Athletics Center, 58-45.  With the victory, the Gaels stay just one game back in the MAAC standings behind Rider and Quinnipiac, who are tied for first place.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College Women's Water Polo team dropped a pair of contests Saturday against nationally ranked opponents Princeton and Harvard. The Maroon & Gold fell to the Tigers 14-5, and came up short against the Crimson 13-6.

Game 1: Iona 5, Princeton 14.

In the morning contest, the Gaels were unsuccessful in gaining any momentum against No. 11 Princeton, falling to the Tigers 14-5.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Behind a career-high 29 points from Sam Cassell Jr., the Iona College men’s basketball team won a sixth straight game by upending Rider 95-76 on the road in MAAC action this evening.

Cassell knocked down a career-best seven 3-pointers on the way to his career-high 29 points, adding six rebounds and three assists. Off the bench, Jordan Washington added 24 points on 10-of-14 shooting to go along with three blocks and two steals. Jon Severe shot 7-of-10 from the field towards 17 points and five assists.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Women's Basketball team ran into a red hot Valley Forge squad in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.  In the end, CNR would fall by a 75-57 margin, and in the process lost its third straight.  CNR now stands at 9-8 overall, while the Patriots improved to an impressive 16-4 record.

CNR got a slow start falling behind 17-8 after one frame and ended up trailing by a margin of 37-23 at the half.  Despite winning the third quarter, New Rochelle couldn't close the lead to any closer than 14 in the 4th period.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle swim teams fell to Bard College in their Dual Meet finale for the season. Despite the loss, the women's team achieved their best record (4-7) in recent history, doubling last year's win total, while the men completed their first ever season with a 2-7 mark.  Bard won the women's battle 113-78 while CNR lost the men's meet 86-44.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Women's Basketball team improved to 16-5 by winning its fifth straight game with an 82-64 victory over Union County on Thursday. The Owls had defeated the Mustangs earlier in the season.

Monroe jumped out to a 6-0 lead on baskets from Jada Banks and Shania Johnson. After an Owls layup, the Mustangs scored four more to lead 10-2. With 4:15 left in the first quarter, the lead got up to double digits when a Cristina Soriano foul shot made the score 14-4. Monroe led 18-17 after the first period.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Basketball team earned a hard-fought, nail-biter of a victory against Our Saviour Lutheran School on Wednesday. After building a 17-point lead in the first half, they nearly lost the game before a late rally lifted them to a 76-69 victory.

After Hampus Ahlin made a beautiful pass to Dani Koljanin to open the scoring, the Falcons scored the next eight points to take an 8-2 lead. Ahlin found Koljanin again for a layup to make the score 8-4.  Monroe then got buckets from Bryan Assie and Ahlin to tie the score at 8-8.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Men's Track and Field team competed at the Gotham Cup in Staten Island over the weekend, where they added to their national qualifying times. After having five athletes earn national championship appearances the week prior, the Gotham Cup saw four Mustangs punch their tickets.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College Women's Track and Field team competed at the Gotham Cup in Staten Island this weekend, where they added to their national qualifying times.

Zakiya Denoon was the first Mustangs runner to earn a national qualifier. The LSU-bound sprinter won the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.50. Tristan Evelyn placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.70.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s basketball team had its six-game winning streak snapped at the Hynes Center Friday night by the Rider Broncs, 52-36.  The Gaels are now 15-8 on the season, and 10-4 in MAAC play.

The game started on a tough note when senior Marina Lizarazu picked up her second foul midway through the first quarter, forcing Head Coach Billi Godsey to put the reigning MAAC Player of the Week to take her first rest in six games.  Rider took advantage of Lizarazu’s absence and closed out the first strong by taking a 10-9 lead.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s and women’s swimming & diving programs concluded their seasons tonight on the final day of the four-day long Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship.  The men’s program placed fifth with 400.5 points, and women’s program surged to a fourth place finish with 469 points.

The day kicked off with the 1650-Freestyle where sophomore Maria DiBella, junior Kaitlyn Mahon and freshman Anna Desiderio finished fifth, sixth and eighth respectively; they touched the wall at 17:35.00, 17:43.49 and 18:04.30.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s basketball team dropped its second straight MAAC contest Sunday afternoon, falling to Monmouth in West Long Branch, NJ, 75-65.  The Hawks killed the Gaels from long-range, shooting 55%, making a Gael opponent-high 11 triples on 20 attempts.

Sophomore Alexis Lewis scored a career-high 27 points, shooting 8-for-18 from the floor and 5-of-11 from deep.  Senior Marina Lizarazu, the reigning MAAC Player of the Week, scored 19 points and dished out a team-high four assists.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- An early 16-point advantage helped carry the Iona College men’s basketball team to a 90-76 MAAC victory at Niagara this afternoon in Western New York.

Despite suffering an early injury, Jon Severe led the Gaels (17-9, 10-5 MAAC) with 23 points behind five 3-pointers to go along with six rebounds and two steals. Rickey McGill scored all 19 of his points in the second half while tallying five rebounds, five assists and three steals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle men's basketball team picked up a huge Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory thanks to a 93-86 win over SUNY-ESF in action on Saturday.  The win puts New Rochelle in the driver's seat for post-season play, with one league game remaining against Pratt Institute on Monday.  CNR improves to 11-12 overall and 5-2 in the conference.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle (CNR) has announced it will introduce three additional sports teams in fall 2017—women’s soccer, men’s cross country, and men’s baseball. With these additions, the College will offer a total of 13 NCAA Division III men’s and women’s teams competing in the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
