NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Hundreds of cars unexpectefly descended on Davenport Neck Sunday morning causing traffic gridlock that left residents and beach club members and guests stranded. Police and city officials received many angry telephone calls from area residents, beach clubs and their members. The primary culprit, overflow crowds for an Eid al-fitr celebration at the V.I.P. Club.

"I received 47 phone calls," said City Council Member Albert Tarantino."I saw cars backed up on Church to Pelham Road all the way back to Centre Avenue."

NEW YORK, NY -- On Tuesday, June 13, 2017 the New York State Police conducted a speed enforcement detail on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the Town of Greenburgh.  During the six hour detail a total of 61 tickets were issued, 50 of which were for speeding.  Below are the results of the detail.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A recently suspended New Rochelle High School student spent part of his morning Tuesday directing traffic and crossing students at the intersection of Eastchester Road and White Oak Street. An hour later he was gone but not before 10 people including high school security, the NRPD and the MTA Police had arrived.

He was wearing a home made police uninform with a NRPD Patch on the left arm.

New Rochelle Man Charged with Second Degree Murder in Asphyxiation Death of his 7-Year Old Daughter

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Neil G. White, 47, or 3 Arbor Lane appeared in New Rochelle City Court this afternoon before Judge Anthony Carbone after being charged with Second Degree Murder in the asphyxiation death of his 7-year old daughter. He did not enter a plea. He was not granted bail but remanded to custody while awaiting trial. He is due back in court on June 15.

The victim is Gabriele White. The cause of her death is believed to be asphyxiation by suffocation pending confirmation by the Westchester County Medical Examiner.

New Rochelle Man Charged with Second Degree Murder in Asphyxiation Death of his 7-Year Old Daughter

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Police Department is currently investigating the suspcious death of a young girl. This afternoon at approximately 3:18 p.m.were called to the home on Arbor Glen on a report of a male bleeding from wounds to his wrists. Inside the home, officers discovered the body of a 7-year old girl in her bed apparently deceased. The cause of death has not yet been determined. This according to a statement issued by the New Rochelle Police Department.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle Bureau of Buildings has issued a Notice of Violation to Vincent J. Bonanno for failure to comply with a building permit issued June 20, 2000 for the construction of a back porch at his primary residence at at 24 Ronalds Avenue. More violation notices are expected soon.

The violation notices come as a result of reporting by Talk of the Sound on illegal construction at 24 Ronalds Avenue.

A review of building department files showed that only one permit has ever been issued for 24 Ronalds Avenue, an open permit for a back porch.
