NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A propane gas-fueled generator caught fire at a house in New Rochelle sending flames shooting up the side above a basement garage. No one was home at 14 Lawrence Place when the fire broke out.
The owner of the home told Talk of the Sound the generator located just outside the garage door caught fire.
A neighbor saw flames on the side of the house and call 911.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A student at Albert Leonard Middle School was arrested by New Rochelle police after a handgun-style "bb gun" was found in his backpack at the school.
The arrest took place on March 11, 2017.
"A juvenile was charged with criminal possession of a weapon less than 16 years of age and possession of a forged instrument 3rd degree," said New Rochelle Police Captain Cosma Costa. "The case is being adjudicated through the Department of Probation."New Rochelle Education Police & Fire
NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Fire Department issued five Fire Safety Violation notices in March and five Appearance Tickets in April to the City School District of New Rochelle after multiple violations were found at the George M. Davis Jr. Elementary School.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that Stivenson Desir (DOB 11/12/96) of 759 Main Street, New Rochelle, New York was sentenced by Judge Barry Warhit to twenty-five years to life in state prison after having been found guilty by a jury of:
•one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A” Felony,
