Two Firefighters Injured Battling Destructive House Fire in North End of New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Two firefighters were injured early Tuesday afternoon, after a fire destroyed a single-family on Thornbury Road in the far north end of New Rochelle.

One firefighter was injured when a ceiling collapsed on him. He was taken to White Plains Hospital. The other was treated on the scene. Neither injury was considered according to New Rochelle Fire Chief Lou DiMeglio.

The owner told fire officials that he had just finished using his snow blower and put the machine in his garage. He may have spilled some gasoline.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police are looking for a man who attempted to run over an NRPD officer early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at about 4 a.m.

New Rochelle Police have broadcast a county-wide "hotline" or BOLO alert to other police departments for a suspect identified as Joseph Cicelli (sp.?), date of birth, 5/6/96, Male/White, 5' 8", hazel eyes.

According to police the suspect is driving a 2016 4-door black Honda Civic with Connecticut Combination plates, tag AC97415.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The investigation into financial fraud in the Athletic Director's Office at the City School District of New Rochelle has widened to include two victims and multiple incidents of fraud, sources say.

A forensic audit by the District's outside auditors began last week after a coach working for the District filed a criminal complaint alleging that Marisol Martell, the senior AD Office administrator working under Athletic Director Steve Young, forged a signature on a payroll check and pocketed the proceeds.

UPDATED 7:44 AM MISSING CHILD FOUND

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police and Westchester County Police are engaged in a search for a missing non-verbal, autistic child, last seen at 22:00 hours getting on a Mile Square School Bus at or near Frank Davis Court at Heritage Homes in downtown New Rochelle. The bus was going to the Doyle Center (or Dole Center) in Mount Vernon. Child has not returned home. Child described as 5'2" 125 lbs, male/black, medium build. DOB 1/13/01 (age 16). Last seen wearing gray t-shirt black pants black sneakers brown coat. Search began at about 1 am.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. announced that 

Jonitha Alston (DOB 10/11/86) of 138 Winthrop Avenue, New Rochelle, New York was arraigned on an indictment today before Judge Barbara Zambelli and charged with: 

•one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class “A-1” Felony,

•one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a class “A” Misdemeanor,

•one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class “A” Misdemeanor

in the death of Dennis Graham (DOB 05/07/56).
