NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The 36th annual Our Children, Our Artists exhibit will be on view in the Lumen Winter Gallery of the New Rochelle Public Library from May 1st through May 24th.  The art work of students in the city’s seven elementary schools will be on display from May 1st through May 10th; and the work of middle and high school students will be exhibited from May 17th through May 24th. The exhibit is curated by Erica Bogin, artist and art teacher.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- “Selling, Staging & Buying Your Home” will be the next presentation in the “Law at The Library” series sponsored by the New Rochelle Public Library Foundation and the New Rochelle Bar Association. The free program to help homeowners buy and sell their property will take place on Saturday, May 20th, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the library’s Ossie Davis Theater.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle songs and songwriters will be celebrated in a delightful concert on Saturday, May 6th, at 3:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The “Sing Your Heart Out” Chorus, under the direction of Robert Puleo, will perform a program of songs about New Rochelle, including Forty-five Minutes from Broadway, and songs written by former New Rochelle residents, such as Sunrise, Sunset, from Fiddler on the Roof, by Jerry Boch and Joseph Stein, Vincent, by Don McLean, Send in the Clowns, by Stephen Sondheim, and many more.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Pelham Art Center is thrilled to announce Sammy Chong as the winner of the 2017 Alexander Rutsch Award and Solo Exhibition for Painting. The jury selected Chong from approximately 400 applicants from across the country. As the winner, he will receive a $5,000 cash prize and solo exhibition, Sammy Chong: The Twelve, at Pelham Art Center, May 5 – June 17, 2017, with an opening reception on Friday, May 5 from 6:30-8:00PM.  This biennial juried painting award and exhibition is Pelham Art Center’s only solo exhibition – all others are group shows.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dozens of pink plastic flamingos mysteriously planted themselves on a front lawn on Highbrook Blvd. in Pelham.  The following day they were sighted on Esplanade….Facebook began buzzing. A rosy line of flamingos greeted commuters one morning near the train station.  Since then, the pink flock has roosted on lawns across Pelham.  What is going on?

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The last day for free tax assistance by TCE, the Tax Counseling for the Elderly program and VITA, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance conducted at the New Rochelle Public Library will be Tuesday, April 18th. Trained AARP volunteer counselors will be available every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, through April 18th.   The sessions are held in the library’s Meeting Room and on the stage of the Theater, except during school vacation days, (April 11th and 13th), when they will be held in the Community Gallery.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A classical concert will be performed by the Black Marble Violin Duo on Sunday, April 23, from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. The duo of Jörg-Michael Schwarz and Karen Marie Marmer will perform Enchanted Journey, Virtuosic Music for Two Violins, with a program of music by Telemann, Locatelli, Leclair, Barbella, Shield & Mozart.

PELHAM, NY -- Welcome spring at Pelham Art Center with a concert of Ukrainian village-style polyphony featuring the Ukrainian Village Voices, and afterwards watch a demonstration of pysanky, or Ukrainian egg decorating on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1:30- 3:30pm. Decorate your own wooden egg in our hands-on workshop! Part of Pelham Art Center’s Folk Arts Series, this event is free and open to the public.
