NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- This summer, the New Rochelle Public Library and the Huguenot Children’s Library (HCL) are again offering a host of free enriching programs, from morning to night, each weekday. Designed to encourage participation in the Summer Reading Game, themed “Libraries Rock,” the programs offer great educational experiences through the end of August.  This year’s slate of free programs includes workshops in architecture, New Rochelle’s natural and historical wonders, crafts, yoga and creative movement, creative writing, Mexican dance, and more.

PELHAM, NY -- What better way to celebrate the longest day of the year than with a real Scandinavian midsummer event! 

Dancers wearing traditional Scandinavian clothing will demonstrate and teach accessible and fun Norwegian and Swedish folk dances. A fiddler will play and you will learn how to make lovely floral head wreaths.

Auriana Theatre at the Ursuline School, 1345 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY. The production will be directed by Company co-founder and artistic director Camille Coppola, with orchestra and chorus conducted by Brian Holman, set design by Anthony Valbiro and lighting design by Adam Welsh. The opera will be sung in Italian, with English supertitles.

Natural patterns inspire the work of Elizabeth Knowles and William Thielen. Separately they have created individual bodies of work over the last 25 years. During this time they were engaging in a dynamic, verbal dialogue on aesthetics and philosophy. Resulting from this long-term discourse is the recent collaboration the site-specific outdoor installation ModernDance.

BROOKLYN, NY — Mark Oliver Everett, otherwise known as E, returned to New York for the first time in four years to perform at the Brooklyn Steel musical venue with his band, The Eels.

E along with bandmates Jeff Lyster (“The Chet”), Allen Hunter (“Big Al”) and Joe Mengis (“Little Joe”) were touring to promote The Deconstruction, The Eels 12th studio album, released on April 6, 2018.

The chorus has been rehearsing for months to present a lively concert celebrating life and happiness. Selections include Broadway show tunes, popular songs, a few classics, and a touch of fun opera. The performance is dedicated to the memory of Rosemary Tunney, who was a founding member of the “Sing Your Heart Out” program.
