District employees operating private business on District time in New Rochelle schools

 

We reported previously on non-profit companies with direct relationships to District employees operating within New Rochelle schools, charging a fee for access to taxpayer-funded facilities while turning a handsome profit for themselves.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Former Webster Elementary School PTA President and Treasurer Rosemary Salvatore, 51, of 14 Whitestone Place, New Rochelle was sentenced on January 19, 2017, in Westchester County Court, in front of Judge Schwartz, Rosemary Salvatore was sentenced as a second felony offender to 1 1/2  to 3 years in state prison, and an order of protection was issued for the victim.  Salvatore had previously made full restitution of $29,633.25 to the victim.

Salvatore is currently in custody at the Taconic Correctional Facility in Bedford Hills, NY.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- David Diamond is now the former Assistant Director of Special Education at New Rochelle High School.

Diamond was officially replaced last night by the New Rochelle Board of Education last night. It its' Consent Agenda for Personnel Resolutions, the board voted unanimously to approve Resolution #18-65-22, making an interim appointment to Diamond's former position

Gregory Lau has been assigned to New Rochelle High School, effective August 14, 2017 to June 30, 2018, as an interim Assistant Director of Special Education

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle High School athletes were honored at the Senior Sports Awards Night ceremony at the Greentree Country Club on June 13. Athletic Director Steve Young presented the awards, which were handed out by New Rochelle High School Principal Reginald Richardson.

The awards were as follows:

Leadership Award: Ethan Manley, Nicholas Townley, Jenna Tammaro, Jordan Wallace, Jeanneney Currie.

Sportsmanship Award: Lily Grantcharova, Matthew Long, Betsey Morgado, Daniel Ayala, Savita Dean, Jonathan Hudson.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- ALMS's family and consumer science teachers together with school counselors hosted the middle school's annual Career Day last month.  

The event included an exciting, interactive and innovative twist: a STEAM Fair.  All seventh grade students were able to hear first-hand about high school life and college readiness from NRHS seniors. They also had the opportunity to attend the STEAM fair and talk with professionals from the community about their career paths.

ALMS Teacher is Among MUN Educators of the Year

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Colleen O'Reilly, the long-time social studies teacher at Albert Leonard Middle School, is among a handful of Model United Nations (MUN) Educators of the Year. She runs the only middle school MUN program in Westchester County.

The award is given by Best Delegate, an organization that works with school districts, nonprofits, governments and education companies to help schools build Model United Nations programs. Since 2010, its training and resources have helped more than 3 million people learn about Model United Nations.

Fellow New Rochelle Board of Education Members Wished the Best to David Lacher and Chrisanne Petrone

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Fellow New Rochelle Board of Education members wished the best to the two longest-serving members, David Lacher and Chrisanne Petrone, who are stepping down from the board at end of the month.

Lacher has served on the board for 25 years, including terms as president and vice president. Petrone served for 10 years, also taking turns as president and vice president.
