NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City School District of New Rochelle continues to struggle with the New York State Comptroller’s Fiscal Stress Test. Since its inception in 2013, the New Rochelle School System has consistently scored among the worst in New York.

Bedford Central School District was the worst district in Westchester with a score of 60.00%, New Rochelle was the second worst with a score of 28.30%. No other school district’s in Westchester County made the OSC’s Fiscal Stress List.

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Daniel Stern, 53, of 189 Cross Street, City Island, New York, was sentenced on Friday, January 20, 2017 by Judge Larry Schwartz to two to four years in state prison after being convicted of one count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a class “D” Felony.

On 9/21/15, the defendant, while falsely representing that he was an attorney, stole approximately $31,000 from victim Joseph Bonnano in the City of New Rochelle.

NEW YORK, NY -- Prices in the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island area, as measured by the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U), inched up 0.1 percent in December.  This reflected a 2.7-percent increase in energy prices, which was partially offset by a 3.6-percent decline in apparel prices, often down in December.

Natural gas prices rose 4.6 percent over the month.  Prices also increased for electricity (2.1 percent), gasoline (1.8 percent), and fuel oil.

With no way to contact the group, I reached out to Principal Kimmerly Nieves along with senior school officials. None responded. The letter contains numerous serious allegations. In the absence of a response from Nieves, Osborne and others we feel compelled to share the letter and call for a full investigation into the allegations.

Trump was sworn in today as the 45th President of the United States, an event likely unfamiliar to most public school students in the City School District of New Rochelle. This after Schools Superintendant Brian Osborne banned any viewing or discussion of the nation's 58th Inaguration.

"Word came down from Osborne that nothing is to be shown or talked about involving President Trump," said one source.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has announced that brownfield remediation work has been completed at 149 North Avenue in New Rochelle, NY. Flamingo Cleaners began dry cleaning operations at that location, near the southeastern corner of the intersection of Clinton Place and North Avenue, in 1958. The dry cleaning business operated until 2005.

The location is well familiar to Talk of the Sound readers as the home of New Roc Mini-Mart, run by Abbas Al-Saidi, a paid FBI informant in the Liberty Seven terrorism case in Miami, FL.
