New York State Comptroller Questions $14,216 in "Emergency" HVAC Purchases by New Rochelle Schools

June 21, 2009 - 05:25

Interesting reading

EDITOR'S NOTE: Pages 10-11 are the section on Emergency Purchases. The Comptroller's office cited the District for not providing specific and adequate guidance on purchasing services in case of emergency, purchases which totaled more than $90,000. In particular, the Comptroller questioned two non-competitive contracts for HVAC repairs for $14,216 where the only indication that the repairs were "emergency" purchases was the word "emergency" hand written across the vendor invoice. The Comptroller called the invoices "questionable" and asked why the District did not bother to even make a few phone calls to "obtain comparative prices."

Will the New Rochelle Post Office be Demolished?

June 19, 2009 - 03:00

Senator Schumer's visit to New Rochelle on behalf of Cappelli who wants to demolish the Post Office to build Le Count Square has raised concerns of residents.   Mayor Bramson, who admits the proposed development will include demolition of the Post Office which is on the National Register of Historic Places, was questioned on his WVOX show this week about whether proper procedures were followed to allow tearing down of the building.  Bramson has promised to verify his position that the proper procedures were followed and report the answer on his next WVOX broadcast which should be on Tuesday June 30.

Bruce Danielle Head of Security to be Dismissed?

June 18, 2009 - 20:24

Bruce Danielle Director of Security is facing possible termination due to lack of BOE following proper procedure. The BOE was put on notice this week with a letter from the state informing them that Mr. Danielle was hired under improper procedures. Mr. Danielle was hired on December 1, 1997, with a salary of 103,940 by the end of 2007. More information including a copy of said letter from state to follow.
I guess not enough paper shredders were bought by the BOE.

What Happened to Mrs Taylor?

June 18, 2009 - 18:38

Through the grape vine I was told that Mrs. Taylor would not be coming back to House 4 as a Guidance Counselor. I am extremely upset. She is Professional. Whenever I call her she always returns calls and emails expeditiously. She loves the Students and works hard in their regard. She is getting a BAD DEAL. As parents and students we need to make it know to the administration. They can not replace her with an incompetent counselor. Is that what we need. It should be the fault of the Administration in House 4 to make proper notification to Parents if a counselor is out of the office on Maternity Leave. Put the blame where necessary. I can not stand for this to happen to an Excellent counselor while those lacking skills and knowledge still remain in the school and receive TENURE. Perhaps that is the plan, so that our children do not GRADUATE. Help me save Mrs. Taylor's job write a Letter to Mr. Kenny the head Guidance and Counseling and voice your displeasure
