The Board of Education, which has spent months assiduously pushing off a discussion of the pathetically low minority graduations rates reported by the New York State Education Department last March, will meet tonight at a date and time best suited to insuring minimal turnout. And based on the reaction (or lack thereof) among the minority community in New Rochelle perhaps they are right. Perhaps if you live in the South End and are the parent of a black or latino child and are too disinterested to show up and express some concern of there being a 50-50 chance your kids will not graduate on time then maybe your kids really do deserve to be treated like cattle, penned into low-functioning abattoirs they call classrooms, and then "processed" like so much meat, in time to make room for the next batch.
New Rochelle, NY -- The 5th district of the New York State Professional Fire Fighters Association (NYSPFFA) will be holding their first ever Bowl-A-Thon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Tuesday, August 10, 2010.
The Bowl-a-Thon will take place at New Roc’n Bowl, located at 33 Lecount Place in New Rochelle, N.Y., from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help send children affected by neuromuscular diseases to MDA Summer Camp, located in Spring Valley, N.Y. Each department will be split into two teams of four and will have a goal of sending one child to MDA Summer Camp. This year, members of the 5th District have set a goal to raise $15,000, which will send three cabins of children to MDA Summer Camp.
NYSPFFA is part of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), which is the largest national sponsor of MDA. This is the IAFF’s 56th year dedicating their time and efforts to MDA. In 2009, firefighters across America led by IAFF members have raised over $28 million to aid in the fight against neuromuscular disease.
Yo wateva or whoeva, if you had the time to write here than you must know Frank! You also know that he deserves a good smack into reality.
This is the gentle way to get your message across for those who do not condone violence or corruption.
In closing if you dont like the blog than dont read it.
Thanks to the good work by Robert Cox he has given all of us a place to say what needs to be said.
Go back to the hood~
Since the news was reported of the College hiring a convicted felon, this was the perfect opportunity for Capone, Veryflexible and Saywhat to slander Frank Orehek and others. Obviously this is such a cowardly act. Whether the story is true or not, who cares? Evidently these people do not have anything better to do because if they had real jobs they would not be writing these ridiculous blogs. An opinion should be stated once but it seems like these kids continue to ride on this boring story. They should check their spelling and grammar before they post their blogs too. I know after I post this, they are going to get excited because this is the world of cyber bullying. This is a thrill for them. Sadly enough it is adults writing this garbage. What is this world coming to? Parents have to protect kids from getting bullied on the internet but what about the grown immature adults writing these stories to humiliate professional adults? Obviously because this is a world of freedom of speech and they know they can't get caught, this is the reason why they continue. I decided to state my opinion because my child was a victim of cyber bullying and I know how frustrating this can get. I really wish people would stop. I will not entertain this and write back again. This will be my first and last opinion stated on this blog. Have a blessed day.
Tune in on 1460 AM or wvox.com.
The plan is to talk about a bit of New Rochelle history and relate that to current day events.
Not sure if this is worth celebrating but we hit 300,000 unique visitors today.
The next really cool milestone is probably 500,000 unique visitors but what the heck...we hit 300K today!
The City of New Rochelle web site says the New Rochelle Police Department has a SCUBA unit -- a sergeant and five police officers. The unit is supposed to be responsible for rescue and recovery on the waters of Long Island Sound that bound the City of New Rochelle. The SCUBA unit, however, has been out of action for the last two recovery operations.
It is not for lack of the $1,100 needed to pays the costs and fees associated with maintaining a certified SCUBA unit but concerns over the appearance that the City is spending money on "luxuries" in difficult times, sources say.
The Mayor, City Manager and City Council can expect tough questions in the wake of the two recent rescue and recovery efforts off New Rochelle waters where New Rochelle's SCUBA unit sat idle.
On Sunday, a young sailboater went missing off Premium Point. A month ago, Mount Vernon firefighter James Drago, who took his boat out of the New Rochelle Marina, was missing for a week before his body was recovered.
Domenic Procopio has been receiving “Special Illegal Privileges” for over a decade. These privileges include property tax breaks, school tax breaks, parking and moving violation breaks, etc… It was discovered that Domenic Procopio was and still is receiving STAR Tax breaks on more then one of his properties. STAR Tax break is ONLY eligible for a person’s primary residence. It was also discovered that Domenic Procopio was also receiving Combat Veteran Tax Breaks on his properties. The funny thing here is that Mr. Precopio NEVER served in any of the Armed Forces of these Great United States. So how was it that he was grated such a break? If you ask Mayor Noam Bramson, he’ll tell you it was a clerical error. BULL!!!. There is no way this was an error. This was a deliberate illegal favor given to Domenic Procopio by Tim Idoni, the current County Clerk and carried out by City Manager Chuck Strome and current Mayor Noam Bramson. The issue here is why hasn’t Domenic Procopio been relinquished of his title? I’ll tell you why. Political connections run deep. The corruption in New Rochelle City Hall is so bad that sitting elected officials are afraid to do anything in fear of all the scandals and corruption being uncovered.
New Rochelle Police are confident that the man arrested after a brief car chase the night of July 16th, is one of the men responsible for a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries that have plagued the North End of New Rochelle, knowledgeable sources say.
On the night of July 16th, New Rochelle police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a home invasion at 105 Forest Avenue. Police quickly located the suspects. One was caught after the van he was driving developed a flat tire several blocks from the scene. The driver of the van, Joseph E. Gill, 39, of 148 Tudor Court, Lakewood, N.J. was apprehended and arrested. Two other suspects in the van escaped on foot.
Police are attempting to link the three men to the North End burglary spree going back to November of 2009, first reported by Talk of the Sound in April.
There were some dissimilarities between the July 16 incident and previous burglaries and attempted burglaries -- it occurred at 10:30 PM when previous burglaries occurred between 6 PM and 9 PM, and someone was at home.
