Patients admitted to SSMC, will have information available on smoking cessation. In addition, their primary care physicians may prescribe stop-smoking aids.

Dick Morris receives "In the Spirit of Thomas Paine" Award

Tonight the Thomas Paine Cottage Museum and the Huguenot and New Rochelle Historical Association had their annual dinner at the VIP Country Club on Davenport Road. It was a well attended and beautiful event. Dick Morris mingled with the crowd and posed for photographs. The Director of Thomas Paine Cottage, John R. Wright, hosted the event with his committee.

The selection of Dick Morris as an award recipient created a controversy that even reached Ethiopia! Here is an article, originally published in the UK Guardian, in the Ethiopian Review.

Dick Morris was awarded the "In the Spirit of Thomas Paine" award to the attentive crowd. Trinity St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Metro Med, and Sydelle & Norman Herzberg each received the "Community Leadership Award".

It turns out that Dick Morris was born in New Rochelle and lived here until he was three, when his parents moved to New York City. And his grandfather was a Huguenot.

November 16, 2010 - 21:05

TransCare.jpgNew Rochelle, NY— Ambulance services for the City of New Rochelle have been strengthened by a new agreement with Scarsdale Volunteer Ambulance Corps (ScarVAC), which became effective the end of October.

New Rochelle already delivers a three-tiered response to 911 calls, from TransCare Ambulance (providing advanced life support level services), the Fire Department (basic life support level services) and the Police Department. TransCare currently provides three ambulances to the City, two full day and one half day. With the new agreement, when New Rochelle’s TransCare ambulances are engaged in the southern half of New Rochelle, ScarVAC will provide backup services to residents living north of Quaker Ridge Road.

As with all 911 calls, emergency dispatchers will determine which ambulance should respond based on guidelines and availability at the time of the call. Ambulances will take patients to the nearest appropriate hospital as a matter of course.

“This additional ambulance will assist us in maintaining our excellent response rate to residents in all parts of the City” said City Manager Charles B.
