Vote por Gente Honesta

October 27, 2011 - 13:14

Re-eliga a Louis Trangucci. De la misma manera que Louis hubiera traído cambios en el Ayuntamiento, por favor vote por personas que han demostrado su eficacia como promotores de nuestra comunidad - Vota por Ilysie Spertus y Steve Mayo. Gracias,
Martin Sanchez

Chelsea Clinton Mulls Congressional Run from New York State; 18th District in Westchester County Considered Likely Choice

October 26, 2011 - 19:31

Chelsea NitaTalk of the Sound has learned that Chelsea Clinton may run for Congress next year.

Clinton has been approached by "the right people" in the New York Democratic Party, according to one source in Albany. While no decision has been made, Clinton is said to be "actively considering" a Congressional run from New York State in 2012.

Chelsea Clinton, 31, is the only child of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The discussions of running Chelsea Clinton for a house seat grew out of the redistricting plans currently underway in the New York State legislature in Albany.

Two Weeks Until Election Day!

October 26, 2011 - 07:42

Ever since I entered the political world, October has been a crazy month. I have been helping candidates in campaigns or running myself every year since 1992. (Plus, Barbara Keating for U.S. Senate in 1974 and Frank Garito for Mayor in 1975 as a kid). When you are in October of a campaign, your life is upside down. Any serious candidate is out there campaigning about 15 hours per day. I have accomplished some very difficult things in my life such as Marine Corps boot-camp, passing the bar exam and litigating trials, and the last month of a campaign ranks up there with those tough chores.

GETTING RESULTS: New Rochelle Judge Acknowledges Illegal Campaign Contribution to Council Member Barry Fertel

October 25, 2011 - 21:34

Kettner Fertel
In response to a story first reported here on Talk of the Sound, New Rochelle City Judge Susan Kettner released an email to WVOX which she says was sent to the Treasurer of the Friends of Barry Fertel Campaign Committee. The email was read over the air earlier today.

In the email, Kettner acknowledged that a $500 campaign donation made to New Rochelle City Council Member Barry Fertel was illegal and that she had requested the return of the full amount of the check. Kettner claims that she believed that up until May 2, 2011, four months after she was sworn in as a judge, she would continue to be able to function as a private citizen. On what basis she should believe that is unclear.

Can a Task Force Report Help Develop New Rochelle's Davids Island

October 25, 2011 - 16:49

In September 2010 a Task Force was chosen to prepare a report on potential
uses of Davids Island. Residents remember when Fort Slocum, a military base,
was closed in l966. This was followed by a series of proposals listed
in the report for the Island, all of which were abandoned. Notable among these
was the purchase of the Island by Con Edison for a nuclear plant and the
company's subsequent plan to build this plant only a mile or so from
residential areas. Among the reasons why it was rejected were the Atomic
Energy Commission Regulations which required plants to be 50 miles from a
populated area.

Then proposals by Xanadu in l980 and Trump in l995 envisioning high rise
buildings were also defeated because of residents' and nearby
communities' opposition. Following this was a plan for Hotel Columbia in 1977
and Westchester County's commitment to acquire the Island during the period l990

to 2010.
The City Council of New Rochelle voted to allow the federal government to
tear down all the buildings on the Island to remediate areas contaminated by
the military. But even after that, the 180 acre island, 40 acres of which are

Change is Invetable

October 25, 2011 - 13:42

Yesterday Barack Obama announced another initiative that is doomed to fail. He is resurrecting the old forms of economical growth, investing in foreclosure situation which will encourage people who cannot afford to make payments on mortagages which, in many cases, they could not afford in the first place. So, the government will invest in another inappropriate initiative, financial instiutions will package these into non-asset, income generating deritatives, and next, they will bet against their initiatives and make more money. C

It never ends..... by now it should be clear that old forms of managing an economy in a age being drowned by the effects of a global economy, and further downsized by new forms of technology, such as robotics, is a disastrous remedy for any economy.

It was simpler when wars destroyed millions, manufacturing was pre-technology largely and needed manpower, war economies created jobs and people came together to invest, save and work as one.
