New Rochelle Cuts Fire Department Staffing Beginning Thursday To Save Less Than 3 Cents per Day per Resident

The City of New Rochelle will slash its emergency responder protections this Thursday, November 17), cutting its minimum on duty firefighting contingent to 24 firefighters. Additionally one of the department’s three ladder companies , which conduct search, rescue and recovery operations and venting heat, will be taken out of service.

Closing Ladder-12, which is based at the Webster Avenue firehouse, a highly populated downtown neighborhood will diminish by one-third the number of ladder companies able to respond to emergencies. November 15, 2011 - 14:15

IonaCollegeLogoIona College is coming clean in the wake of the firing of former Provost Warren Rosenberg who inaccurately reported data on student performance to outside agencies. The college issued a statement last week as a follow up to previous statements made in August and September.

New Rochelle, NY – November 8, 2011 —Iona College recently completed an internal investigation by outside legal counsel, with assistance from an independent auditing firm, into irregularities in student performance data reported to external agencies. The audit confirmed that inaccurate data—related to incoming freshman acceptance rates, SAT scores, graduation rates, and alumni who give annually—was reported to external agencies. Reported SAT scores for incoming freshmen were overstated on average 6.5% over actual scores. The irregularities were first revealed in an announcement by the College on August 30, 2011, and a full report of audit findings is available on the Iona website: http://www.iona.edu/about/reportcommittee/.

Patrick Hickey, the primary owner of the house spent years orchestrating a campaign to drive his next door neighbor out of her house. Now, just three months after the final installment of a Talk of the Sound series exposing Hickey's relentless harassment of Suzanne Ribando, it is Hickey who has been driven out of his house, and the City of New Rochelle. Hickey is looking to move to Mamaroneck, sources say.

Suzanne Ribondo, who had previously moved back into her family home to care for her ailing father, was mercilessly hounded by Hickey, Tracey Hickey, his wife, and their two children as well as members of the New Rochelle Police Department. Hickey, who made a series of false police reports intended to drive Ribando from her home, is now facing a civil lawsuit.
