***TALK OF THE SOUND EXCLUSIVE***

Marisa L. Anton, 34, a female librarian at New Rochelle high school, was arrested Wednesday by New Rochelle Police after going to meet a 16-year old male youth for what she believed would be a sexual encounter. Anton did not report to work today at the high school, sources say. The boy, a student at the school, had complained to his parents that Anton had made inappropriate remarks that made the boy uncomfortable. The parents called the police. The police set up a sting: they had the boy call Anton and arrange a meeting. When Anton showed up for the meeting she was arrested. The initial tip came from long-time Talk of the Sound source and school district insider known only as "Deep Throat".

New Rochelle Police Captain Joseph P. Schaller said the victim came to police headquarters on Sunday, May 27th to report that for the past several months Anton had engaged in explicit sexual conduct. The boy complained that Anton was flirting in emails and text messages.

Schaller said a police investigation confirmed the student's report, and police detectives apprehended Anton when she appeared at the student's residence allegedly to have a sexual encounter

"She invited him to engage in sexual contact," said Schaller. "She was brought in for questioning and taken into custody".

"No sexual contact occurred," added Schaller.

Time Wounds All Heels -- But Can We Really Know Who is Who

We hear that Al Gore invented the Internet. Mitt Romney put into place the seeds for the Motor City turnabout.

It sounds sincere maybe because they feel it is sincere. It is sort of like saying you are a fan of small government, but have no responses for what would happen to the hundreds of thousands of people who work in government jobs at all levels. Or perhaps, the current Administration taking crediting for the return of manufacturing jobs but not mentioning they are priced competitively with Southeast Asia -- oh, say $14.50 an hour.

Or perhaps, it is like most of us, "tweaking" our tax returns, knowing enough to avoid non-reporting of income, but playing with the deduction entries (not me please) rationalizing we want and need our social security and medicare because, damn it, we paid for it.

OK, so living a lot longer is the luck of the draw and you say it has no impact on "small government?"

Tire Thieves Rob Honda Dealership on Main Street in New Rochelle

May 30, 2012 - 12:13

NewRochelleHondaUsedParkingLotDozens of tires were stolen from the Main Street Honda parking lot at 200 E. Main Street this morning.

18 cars were placed on cinder blocks and the tires removed. The cars were primarily Hondas and Acuras along with a Toyotas. Also stolen was a box truck and two bumper covers from a Honda Civic.

The thieves gained access to the property by cutting a whole in a chain link fence. The lot has been targeted before. In January, a hole was made in the window of the dealership which police believe may have been a bullet hole.

Upcoming U.S. Supreme Court Decisions – Expected in June

May 29, 2012 - 18:00

Over the next month, we should be able to review several key decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court usually finishes releasing their decisions for the previous term in June. Here are the six cases we will be reading about soon. For each case, you can find the date argued, a link to entire docket (thanks to the ABA website) and the question(s) presented to the court:

1. Arizona v. United States – Argued April 25, 2012

http://www.americanbar.org/publications/preview_home/11-182.html

Question Presented:

Arizona enacted the Support Our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act (S.B. 1070) to address the illegal immigration crisis in the State. The four provisions of S.B. 1070 enjoined by the courts below authorize and direct state law enforcement officers to cooperate and communicate with federal officials regarding the enforcement of federal immigration law and impose penalties under state law for non-compliance with federal immigration requirements.

The question presented is whether the federal immigration laws preclude Arizona’s efforts at cooperative law enforcement and impliedly preempt these four provisions of S.B. 1070 on their face.

No doubt the beginning of carefree summer days, swimming pools and barbecues. As our collective picnic weekend takes shape, remember the price paid that affords us the ability to share these summer days of family and friends gathering. Our freedom, as a Nation or as an individual has neither been a gift nor an endowment. Nor should we take for granted the endurance of this fundamental cornerstone of America without the sacrifice needed to support it.

Reasons to Be Skeptical of Noam Bramson's Latest Version of "Community Outreach", the New Rochelle Comprehensive Plan

In the world of New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, there is no issue too large or small that forming a committee will not make it better. The cherry on top is town hall meetings where everyone who wishes to attend can shout at the waves while Noam ticks off boxes on his already pre-sorted list until someone has suggested an idea that is already part of his plan. Once every box on the list is checked, Noam can safely claim that his latest scheme is a "grassroots" plan, grown locally, based on community input.

Even better is if you can come up with a catchy title that incorporates the letters "NR". In this most recent example, called EnvisioNR, Noam Bramson has posited his conclusion as his premise and hoped no one will notice. I have.

The "urgent" need for his latest plan is that because New Rochelle's population will grow by about 5,000 people over the next 20 years the City must build housing that will accommodate them.
