2012 Leaf Collection Season Begins in New Rochelle

October 17, 2012 - 23:29

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The collection of fall leaves will begin on Monday October 15, 2012 in New Rochelle and conclude on or about December 28, 2012. Leaves must be either raked to the curb and stacked in long windrows, or bagged for pickup following the guidelines below. Citywide pickup of bagged leaves will occur on the following six Saturdays: November 3rd, 10th, 17th and December 1st, 8th 15th. With the onset of leaf collection, yard waste collection is suspended until spring.

For collection purposes, bagging of leaves is the preferred method for disposal as the collection process is much more expeditious. Place leaves in biodegradable 30-40 gallon paper bags or open containers weighing no more than 75 pounds. Leaves placed in plastic WILL NOT be collected.

When leaves are placed at the curb, it is important that they do not block storm water catch basins, which when restricted can cause flooding; or block fire hydrants, which can impede fire suppression efforts. It is also important that they do not block traffic lanes, causing vehicles to veer into oncoming traffic. Residents are responsible for making sure that their gardeners follow the rules.

Latimer = Less State Aid & Higher Taxes!

We over at the New Rochelle GOP strongly support Bob Cohen.

However, we have to ask the following question:
Why is anyone in New Rochelle voting for Latimer? He has done absolutely nothing for New Rochelle in the majority of State Assembly - why would we send him back to Albany to be in minority of State Senate where he will be (shocking this is possible) even worse?

New Rochelle has lost tens of millions of dollars in state aid with Suzi Oppenheimer in minority of state senate for 28 years - we had to pay higher property taxes because of this - don't make the same mistake twice. Send Bob Cohen to Albany so that New Rochelle finally gets its fair share of state aid.

HuguenotHills2012 560 After more than eight years, the Huguenot Hills Condominium Association has finally shown signs of undertaking work to rectify a serious roof drainage system which has caused dangerous road conditions for drivers and a severe icicle problem for pedestrians each winter.

The problems at the condo complex first came to the public attention following a series of reports by Talk of the Sound.

Bob Young, the builder of Huguenot Hills, failed to install a rooftop drainage system -- a series of interconnected gutters and leaders -- on about 80% of the front of the buildings which make up the luxury condo structure. Young somehow managed to to get a New Rochelle building inspector, John Caldararo, to sign off on the building's Certificate of Occupancy despite blindingly clear violations related to the missing rooftop drainage system.
