Fight Night in Downtown New Rochelle as 75 Teens Screamed, Taunted and Brawled at Multiple Locations

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police spent two hours Saturday night dealing with a disorderly group of about 75 teens roaming downtown New Rochelle getting into fights, screaming, yelling and being disorderly. Talk of the Sound condensed the scanner traffic, added in a photo of a police barricade set up at North Avenue and Huguenot and a 25 second video of the teens at the intersection of North Avenue and Anderson Street near New Roc City.

The teens were from Mount Vernon and New Rochelle.

Iona MBB Falls To Nevada 80-72

RENO, NV - The Iona College men's basketball team dropped its third straight decision in an 80-72 defeat at Nevada. Sophomore A.J. English led the Gaels (5-5) with 22 points in the ESPNU Bracketbusters return matchup at the Lawlor Events Center.
 The Gaels led by as many as eight points in the first half when freshman Daniel Robinson's baseline eight-foot jumper made the score 38-30 with 3:43 left. Nevada (5-7) chipped away and got within two points ending the frame scoring five straight points and a 10-4 run.

NY City Council passed yesterday the 1060A Bill, which bans certain Expanded PolyStyrene products from use by January 2015. These EPS products include single use food Styrofoam as in school trays and such. WHOHOOOO. This is a major victory of our children's health versus the mighty Plastic Industry!

School Budget Input Forums and Budget Review Sessions Set to Begin in January

The New Rochelle Board of Education has scheduled a series of budget discussions with members of the Board and the School District’s Central Administration.

There will be two School Budget Community Input Forums. The board will seek the public's guidance on the development of the school district’s 2014-2015 annual budget and the financing of the instructional program offered to children.
