85% of New Yorkers Can Prepare and E-File Their State Income Taxes for Free!

Albany, NY -- The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance today kicked off the income tax season with valuable news for New Yorkers – new this year, 85% of taxpayers can e-file their state returns for free.
 
 The Department is accepting e-filed income tax returns for the 2013 tax year through its Web site (www.tax.ny.gov) effective immediately.

Parents throughout New Rochelle are upset about the last 24 hours and the response of the City School District of New Rochelle to the recent snowstorm. Some readers seem to think I am unaware (how could I not be aware when I have kids at ALMS and NRHS and my wife works for the district!)

Last week the New York State Comptroller’s Office released a report reviewing the fiscal situation of school districts throughout the State. The City School District of New Rochelle was classified as being under “Moderate Fiscal Stress”.

THIS PUTS NEW ROCHELLE IN THE BOTTOM 5% OF ALL 674 SCHOOL DISTRICTS REVIEWED.

City of New Rochelle Appoints New Corporation Counsel

New Rochelle, NY -- City Manager Charles B. Strome, III today announced the selection of Mark W. Blanchard to the position of Corporation Counsel.
 
 Mr. Blanchard has an extensive background in municipal law, including the operations of state and local economic development agencies. Mr. Blanchard has previously served as senior counsel to the firm of Harris Beach PLLC, within their Municipal Law and Public Finance practice groups.
