Iona College to Offer Free Tax Preparation for Simple Returns Under $50,000

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College Hagan School of Business accounting department will offer free tax preparation for simple tax returns with income of $50,000 or less. The service will be offered on March 1, 8, 22, and 29, from 9:00 a.m. until noon in the Hagan lab on the ground floor.

Hispanic Middle School Student Charged with Hate Crime by New Rochelle Police Following Alleged Assault on Middle-Aged White Woman

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A thirteen year old student from Isaac E. Young Middle School was arrested over the weekend and charged with a hate crime by New Rochelle police following an assault earlier this month that injured a 59-year old female.

The student is a male Hispanic. The victim is White.

This job performed by our men and women in the armed forces has become increasingly difficult as foreign military actions become more dangerous. Both physical and mental injuries for our military are becoming more prevalent. New York State lawmakers recently approved legislation which would allow school districts to give real estate tax exemptions to veterans in various categories such as alternative, combat and disabled veterans.

Sr. Marie Magdalena Angerame, 94, A resident of Mount Vernon died on February 21, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born on may 11, 1919 in Queens to the late Rocco and Rosaria Angerame. She is survived by a niece Marie Sullivan and nephew John Pugliese. She entered the Sisters of ST. Francis in Wappingers Falls on January 8, 1939, with first profession on July 14, 1941 and final vows three years later.

I received an email last night from O’Connor Davies (, which provides an important update about possible changes to New York State law for the estate tax. The changes would add a gift tax and may be approved in this year’s NYS Budget (it could pass by April 1). City of New Rochelle Denies Reports of Free Parking; Scanner Audio Says Otherwise

I put out a tweet yesterday reporting that NRPD was not going to be enforcing parking regulations in New Rochelle.

My report was based on listening to the police scanner. The New Rochelle Police Department dispatcher twice gave instructions over the air not to enforce meters or "pay to display" machines.
