The City of New Rochelle is pursuing legal action against the VIP Country Club on Davenport Neck after it sold tickets to a New Year's Eve Party hosted by DJ Serg. It is illegal to sell tickets for a public event held at one of the Davenport beach clubs.
The VIP Country Club is incorporated as The Aqua Club, Inc., owned by Michael Morelli.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Students and families whose children were cared for at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital will come together tonight for a six-hour dance marathon to raise money for the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.

Beginning Friday, January 30 at 6 p.m. tonight Iona students will dance to support the hospital and advanced children’s healthcare in the region.

ALBANY, NY -- The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance and the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance are encouraging New Yorkers to take advantage of the valuable Earned Income Tax Credit as part of EITC Awareness Day, a national effort sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service.

EITC benefits vary by income, family size, and filing status, but eligible families with three or more qualifying children making under the $52,427 limit could receive a maximum combined federal, state, and New York City credit of $8,293.

Winter Storm Linus Expected to Bring 5-8 Inches of Snow, Sunday into Monday

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Meteorologists are sounding a bit gun shy about Winter Storm Linus, heddging their bets and offering a lot of qualifications to their forecast for this weekend.

That said, the forecast for New Rochelle from the National Weather Service is 3 to 5 inches, possibly more from Sunday to Monday. Depending on the timing, the ability to clear roads and the availability of Bee-Line Buses, New Rochelle schools may be closed on Monday.

Con Edison Files Rate Plan with New York State Public Service Commission

NEW YORK, NY -- Con Edison announced today an electric delivery service rate filing with the New York State Public Service Commission today for new rates beginning January 1, 2016, which will support system reliability, storm hardening, better technology and online service enhancements. It would be the company’s first rate increase since April 1, 2012. 

The plan seeks a revenue increase of $368 million, resulting in an average bill hike of 3.2 percent (7.2 percent for delivery), for customers throughout the company’s New York City and Westchester service area.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson will deliver the annual State of the City address on Thursday, March 5th 7:30pm at the Davenport Club.

The event is sponsored by the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce is open to everyone, at no charge.

Prior to the speech, the Chamber will host a reservation-only reception and dinner. The price is $50. The cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:45 p.m.

Iona WBB Tripped Up At Fairfield, 77-66

FAIRFIELD, CT - Iona College women's basketball senior guard Damika Martinez scored a game-high 26 points and dished out five assists in a 77-66 loss to Fairfield Thursday evening at Alumni Hall.

Martinez knocked down nine field goals, including four from behind the arc, and pushed her career scoring total to 2,369 points. She is now 98 points shy of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference scoring record; and is now 87th on the Division I all-time scoring ledger.
