Astorino Announces $6 Million For Youth Programs in Westchester

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that grants totaling more than $6 million – $2,077,000 annually for 2015, 2016 and 2017 – will be awarded under Westchester’s Invest-In-Kids program. 

“Invest-In-Kids is a vital partnership between Westchester County and our non-profits to provide essential services with far-reaching, positive results for our at-risk youth population,” Astorino said. “I am excited to partner with these 30 agencies for the next three years.”

Ursuline Students Win Contest at Norwalk Maritime Aquarium

NORWALK, CT -- The Ursuline School won “Facebook Favorite” on the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium at “Festival of Lighthouses Contest”.

In the 13 years of the contest, this was the first “social media” vote. Over 1,000 votes were cast for the Ursuline submission.

Team members Quinn Murphy, Maeve Hughes, Emily Herrmann and Claire Dillon are all students in the school’s Intro to Engineering course taught by Silvio Monacelli.

How Sweet the Sound, a full musical program created and performed by Julia Breanetta Simpson,  will be performed on Sunday, February 22, from 3:00 – 4:15 pm, in the Ossie Davis Theater of the New Rochelle Public Library. WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Foreclosure filings continue their significant drop nationally and foreclosure actions filed in Westchester County have declined almost fourteen percent since 2013,” reported Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On December 3rd, 2014, New Rochelle police executed Operation City Sweeper II, a citywide series of arrests for drug dealing, primarily heroin and crack cocaine. Among those arrested in New Rochelle during this operation were Joseph Sayegh of 139 Emerson Avenue, Crystal Scott of 384 North Avenue, Eric Landrine of 75 Brook Street, and George Pulliam of 19 Washington Avenue. Sayegh and Scott were charge with possession and sale of marijuana. Landrine and Pulliam were charged with multiple counts of criminal possession and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

It’s Time to E-file - Income Tax Season Has Begun!

ALBANY, NY -- The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced today that taxpayers can begin e-filing their 2014 income tax returns, and encouraged New Yorkers to take advantage of an array of free tax preparation options.

The income tax filing season for tax year 2014 runs until April 15.  More than 10 million returns will be filed.
