NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- At the request of New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, Tuesday January 13th, senior officials of the New Rochelle Police Department made a presentation to City Council on training within the department in the context of recent Grand Jury decisions in the Eric Garner and Michael Brown cases. Bramson, along with Council Member Jared Rice, have repeatedly referenced New Rochelle police in the context of protests following the Garner and Brown decisions.

Westchester County Offers 100 Free Tickets to The New York Times Travel Show

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County Tourism & Film is offering 100 free tickets, on a first-come-first-serve basis, to local residents interested in attending The New York Times Travel Show. Westchester County Tourism will have a booth, located at Booth #956, where guests can enter a raffle to win backpacks filled with travel goodies for a fun adventure in the county. A separate raffle will be held for a Westchester Weekend Getaway Package prize.

What Can New Rochelle Expect from Red Light Cameras at Intersections?

New Rochelle, along with Mount Vernon, submitted a request to be approved for a New York State program to install Red Light Cameras over the summer. The New York State Legislature approved New Rochelle for the cameras and the City Council voted to give the go ahead. New Rochelle can now install up to 12 cameras on local intersections.

New Rochelle Police Commissioner told City Council that the installation of Red Light Cameras would take time.

A May 2014 article by Katie Hoos for the City Review of New Rochelle,  Discussion Of Board President’s Finances Gets Heated, was selected as one of the featured stories in the 2014 Year in Review editions.

Former School Board President David Lacher -- not renewed for second year in office after Talk of the Sound revealed that he had misappropriated over $13,000 in school district funds to pay for his private medical insurance -- is featured on the cover of the newspaper.

Talk of the Sound has reported for years on McLean engaging in sex with students at New Rochelle High School. McLean was also involved in an incident at the school were two men made their way past security, looking for McLean, who allegedly stole money that had been collected as part of a forced savings program.

Talk of the Sound Launches New Web Site

As we have been hinting for a month — and as readers are now experiencing for themselves — Talk of the Sound has been significantly upgraded.
What readers can see is that we have a new “theme” or layout design; what readers cannot see is that the new design is on top of a radically different underlying software framework. We have been using Drupal 6. The site has been upgraded to Drupal 7. I would note that this was a complex upgrade and would not have happened but for the persistence of our web developer, Sara Caldwell of Convey Media.

Dick was a graduate of New Rochelle High School, Princeton University and Harvard Business School. As a football player he was named a High School All-American in Football, Westchester Most Valuable Football Player of the Year and played at Princeton, as a starting member of the Top 10 National team and was in the backfield when Dick Kazmaier won the Heisman Trophy.
