WHITE PLAINS, NY -- In a major victory for Westchester County with respect to the 2009 affordable housing settlement with the federal government, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit has rejected claims by the Department of Housing and Urban Development that HUD's actions are not reviewable by the courts.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Andre Jones, 24, of 506 Locust Street, Mount Vernon, New York was sentenced today to twenty years in prison on his September 2014 conviction after trial to one count of Kidnapping in the Second Degree, a class “B” Felony, two counts of Robbery in the First Degree, class “B” Felonies, and two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, class “C” Felonies relating to the kidnapping and robbery of Ricardo Panton.

NEW YORK, NY - Led by three first place finishes, the Iona College men's indoor track and field team finished third at the 2015 MAAC Championships at the New Balance Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan. Freshman Liam Dee, junior Andrew Kowalsky and the distance medley relay quartet accounted for the Gaels individual MAAC titles.

VILLANOVA, PA -- The Iona College women's water polo team snapped a four-game skid with a pair of victories Saturday on the first day of competition at the Villanova Invitational. With 12 Gaels scoring and the entire squad playing, the Gaels picked up a 17-7 win over Gannon in the opener.

Relying on persistent offense and clutch defense from an impressive freshmen class, the Gaels pulled out a 15-14 come-from-behind win this afternoon over George Washington in the second game; a match that featured five ties and three lead changes at the Villanova Invitational.

English's conventional three-point play with 33.2 seconds left led the Gaels to a thrilling 69-68 win over Monmouth in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play in front of a capacity crowd at the Hynes Center. The Maroon & Gold erased a 14-point halftime deficit and trailed by as many as 16 in the second half to clinch the No. 1 seed and outright MAAC Regular Season Championship for the second straight year and the third time in the last four seasons.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women's basketball team suffered a 79-72 setback to Quinnipiac Sunday afternoon at the Hynes Center. Even at 58 with 8:19 left in the second half, the Bobcats went on a 14-0 run to push the game in their favor for good.

Senior guard Damika Martinez scored a game high 29 points in the contest, to go along with five rebounds. Martinez, honored prior to the game for becoming the MAAC all-time leading scorer this past Friday at Marist, has now scored 2,507 points in her career, 57th most in Division I history.

Metro-North Expands Onboard Credit Card Payment Program to All Lines

NEW YORK, NY -- Metro-North is expanding the use of its new Ticket Issuing Machines (TIMs) which enable customers to use credit cards to purchase tickets onboard the train to all lines. This is being done after a successful pilot launch on the Danbury and Wassaic branches.

The majority of conductors will have the new devices by mid-April. Customers should listen for train announcements or ask their conductor if the option to pay by credit card is available.
