RIVERDALE, NY -- Junior A.J. English drained a patented step back three point field goal with 25.3 seconds left to propel the Iona College men's basketball team to a 70-67 victory over archival Manhattan in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Draddy Gymnasium. English and freshman Schadrac Casimir scored 22 points apiece to lead the Gaels to their seventh straight victory.

CARY, NC -- The Iona College baseball team dropped two tough contests in a doubleheader with the SEC's Missouri at the USA Baseball Complex Friday afternoon. The Gaels fell 4-3 in walk-off fashion in the opener before a 1-0 pitcher's duel in the nightcap.

Sophomore RHP Bill Maier took the no decision in game one, tossing seven innings and 91 pitches while allowing four hits and two unearned runs.

Iona led 3-0 until through the first six and a half frames, scoring a scoring once each in the second, third and seventh innings.

Sergeant Joseph Salerno has just arrived (his brake lights flicker as Glass approached his SUV) in response to a report of a black youth with a gun in the area.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Girls Basketball team at Albert Leonard Middle School led by Coach James Schnaufer completed a perfect 11-0 season today by defeating White Plains 48-42 at the ALMS gymnasium in New Rochelle, NY.

 

The ALMS boys ended their season with a 10-0 record, also undefeated, coached by Donald Ross.

Black Recruit to New Rochelle Police Department “Unexpectedly Resigned” After Flunking Background Check While at Police Academy

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- An African-American recruit to the New Rochelle Police Department, already assigned to the Westchester County Police Academy resigned on Tuesday.

City officials would not provide a reason but sources inside the department told Talk of the Sound that Mazi A. H. Sigmond flunked a background check which turned up involvement with drug dealing and at least two prior arrests by the New Rochelle Police Department.
