NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The heating woes continue at Albert Leonard Middle School.

Two messages were sent home to Albert Leonard parents on Monday. The first message was to advise parents to dress their children in layers because the two boilers at the school are broken (one for over a year, the other for the past 10 days). The second message was to encourage parents to attend the New Rochelle Board of Education meeting scheduled for tonight at Albert Leonard Middle School.

Iona Prep sent an announcement to members of the Gaels family:

For the majority of our young men, the smiling face of a loving mother is one of the first they see in the morning.  For one of our Gaels, many throughout the metropolitan area also saw his mother's smiling face first thing in the morning when they turned in to WABC-TV Eyewitness News and anchor Lisa Colagrossi.

This afternoon I am saddened to share what many of you may already know.  That Lisa died of a brain aneurysm over the weekend.

Canisius Tops Baseball In Doubleheader At City Park

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College baseball team lost a doubleheader to Canisius in its 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and home opener at City Park. The Gaels were blanked 8-0 in the opener and 7-0 in the night cap.

In the opener, Canisius scored seven of its eight runs in its first five turns at bat. Sophomore RHP Bill Maier allowed the runs but only one was earned in the loss.

Iona Prep Lower School Boys Book Ticket to Archdiocese of New York Basketball Championships

New York, NY -- Iona Prep Lower School boys remain undefeated after defeating St Raymond on Saturday in the Downstate Championship played at Mount St. Vincent College on Saturday.

The win comes on the heels of a 64-48 victory over Staten Island Champion St. Charles.

The Gaels will now bring their 17-0 record to Dominican College in Orangetown, New York.

Women's Water Polo Takes Two In Poughkeepsie

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Iona College women’s water polo team traveled to Poughkeepsie where they played matches against Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and St. Francis.

In their first match, the Gaels took VMI with a 7-5 win.  Freshman Kayla Allen led the team in the first period with two goals, unassisted. Freshman Paige Neary also hit two, while sophomore Darby Nevins, freshman Hannah Schultz and senior Jordan Camody had a goal each.  Junior goalie Dana Delucchi took the win for Iona with six saves in net.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Giselle, a romantic French ballet, will be performed by the Ajkun Ballet Theatre at the Linda Kelly Theater on the campus of New Rochelle High School on the weekend of April 10-11.

Ajkun Ballet Theatre is a ballet company based in New York City, presenting classic and contemporary ballets in the Greater New York area, the Capital Region, Westchester County, the National Opera House in Albania, the Dance in Italy Festival, and throughout Australia.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dorothy H. Wickenden, executive editor of The New Yorker, will be the keynote speaker for the 2015 undergraduate commencement ceremony. She also will receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree at commencement, which begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, in The Theatre at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Wickenden has been executive editor of The New Yorker since January 1996. She joined the magazine as managing editor in 1995. She is also the moderator of The New Yorker's weekly podcast, “The Political Scene.”

Out of the Blue, Oxford University's a cappella singing sensation and semi-finalist on Britain's Got Talent, will perform a live concert at New Rochelle High School Tuesday, March 24th at 7:30 pm in the Linda Kelly Theater.

Out of the Blue is an all-male a cappella group from the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University in Oxford, United Kingdom. The student-run group sings an eclectic mix of songs, focusing on covers of modern rock and pop hits.
