NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle police responded this afternoon to a report of an armed robbery at a Stationery Store at 1295 North Avenue at about 2:00

A man reportedly displayed a handgun and made off with $900 cash.

Police are canvassing the area around Quaker Ridge Road and North Avenue.

Police Commissioner Patrick Carroll recently called New Rochelle one of the safest cities in America.



BRRRR! Albert Leonard Middle School Boilers Out for Third Day in Row

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Another building in the New Rochelle school system is running without proper heating of classrooms, this time the school is Albert Leonard Middle School.

Under §602.4, the Property Maintenance Code of New York State schools must be maintained at a minimum temperature of 65ºF between September 15th and May 31st. The only exceptions are for processing spaces (coolers or freezers) and vigorous physical activities areas (Gymnasiums).

This is NOT the ALMS cafeteria.

The Sun Haven/Hazelhurst Park Neighborhood Association will host a meeting at the Radisson Hotel on Wednesday, April 15 at 7:00 P.M. to learn more from RDRXR, the master developer for downtown New Rochelle. RDRXR executives will make a presentation and answer any questions that you may have about the proposed project.

Iona Baseball Falls To Stony Brook On The Road

STONY BROOK, NY - Stony Brook defeated the Iona College baseball team 11-2 in non-conference action at Joe Nathan Field. Freshman Jon Budesa went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the defeat.

Senior 1B Jimmy Guiliano went 1-for-4 and scored a run while junior SS Vinny DeMaria recorded Iona's other run scored. Budesa drove home Guiliano with a one-out single in the sixth inning. Guiliano scored from third on a wild pitch with junior C Carmine Palummo at the plate.

Rookie RHP Patrick Ryan took the loss in 1.1 innings of work.

KINGSTON, RI - The Iona College men's basketball team could not overcome a torrid Rhode Island first half shooting effort in an 88-75 loss in the National Invitation Tournament First Round matchup at the Ryan Center. Junior A.J. English scored a game high 26 points and senior David Laury added 26 points and 17 rebounds for the Gaels in the loss.
