Iona Softball Stopped By Bryant, 5-2

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The Iona College softball team continued its west coast road swing with a 5-2 loss to Bryant in its third game of the CSUN Tournament at Matador Diamond.

The Gaels were held to just three hits in the contest, with sophomore Katie Newton leading the way with two runs batted in.

After two scoreless innings, the Bulldogs pushed their first run across in the third inning before adding two runs apiece in the fourth and sixth innings.

Iona Women's Water Polo Completes 4-0 Lancer Invitational

RIVERSIDE, CA – The Iona College women’s water polo team wrapped up its west coast swing Saturday with a pair of victories at the 2015 Lancer Invitational hosted by California Baptist University

In an opening match that featured four ties and three lead changes, the Gaels came from behind for a 10-8 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The team then defeated Concordia 10-6 later in the day.

The Gaels finish their annual California road trip with a 4-1 record, and hold a 13-9 mark overall.

Iona Baseball Drops Two in Doubheheader

SPARTANBURG, SC - The Iona College baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Wofford this afternoon in non-conference action at King Field. The Terriers took the opener 14-4 before a three-run eighth inning proved to be the difference in a 7-6 win in the nightcap.

Junior SS Vinny DeMaria led the Gaels in the opener with two hits and two RBI. Junior LF Travis Mistretta, junior DH Zach Brown and freshman CF Jon Budesa each recorded hits in the contest. DeMaria and Budesa both doubled in the loss.

Iona’s Clarke Finishes Fourth In Mile At NCAA Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Iona College women's track graduate student Rosie Clarke finished fourth in the 2015 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Women's Mile Championship at Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Clarke finished the event in a school record and personal best time of 4:31.75.

More Billboards on I-95

The City of New Rochelle wants to get a Home Rule authorization to increase the number of allowable billboards on the I-95 corridor from six to nine. It was not that long ago that Noam Bramson wanted to rip down all of the billboards. It might have something to do with that $3,000 a month fee per billboard the City receives.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- All Ursuline seniors competed at the Westchester Science & Engineering Fair on Saturday, March 7th. 500 students competed and 4 of our students received awards.

Quinn Murphy won 3rd Place in the Behavioral Research Category.  She was awarded a medal and a $50 prize, sponsored by Psychogenics Pharmaceuticals. Hana Mahallati won an Excellence in Medical Research Award, given by the Westchester Academy of Medicine in recognition of projects that help people in the biological and medicine and health categories. She was awarded a certificate and $25 prize.

ALBANY, NY -- The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) is hiring more than 1,000 new and returning lifeguards for the summer season at its swimming beaches and pools.

“Lifeguards are crucial to the success of our State Parks throughout the most popular months of the year,” said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. “Lifeguarding is a rewarding way high school and college students can make money and gain valuable job experience in a friendly, active and fun environment.”

RIVERSIDE, CA – Recovering from last night’s loss to California Baptist University, the Iona women’s water polo team rebounded with a 15-9 win over Redlands University in the first of two matches Friday at the 2015 Lancer Invitational hosted by California Baptist University. Notching its second win of the day, the Gaels topped Fresno Pacific University 7-4 later in the day. The Gaels (11-9) are 3-1 on their annual California road trip.

The Gaels are currently 3-1 on their annual six-match California road trip.

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The Iona College softball team dropped its first two games at the CSUN Tournament Friday at Matador Diamond. The Gaels fell to Colorado State 6-0 in the opener before suffering a 9-1 setback to Bryant in the second game.

In the first game of the day, the Rams plated their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning before adding three more in the second frame. Colorado State scored its final two runs in the sixth inning.
