Rutgers Defeats Iona Baseball, 12-3

PISCATAWAY, NJ - A four-run second inning and a three-run third by Rutgers led to a 12-3 defeat of the Iona College baseball team in non-conference action at Bainton Field.

An auspicious start to the contest saw back-to-back doubles by senior LF Jimmy Guiliano and junior 2B Carmine Palummo to lead off the game and give the Gaels an early 1-0 lead.

Rutgers scored seven runs in the second and third innings and five more in the sixth and seventh to account for their 12 runs.

2014 New Rochelle Police Department Annual Report Shows Crime at Historic Low

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle retained its ranking as one of the safest cities nationally in 2013, according to the 2014 Annual Report released this week by the New Rochelle Police Department. The City was in the top 10% (#11) among similarly-sized cities (population 75,000- 99,999). Additionally, the City of New Rochelle retains the lowest crime rate among similar municipalities in Westchester County and New York State.

New Rochelle School Cafeterias Health Code Violation Improve from "Worst in Westchester"

In 2009, the Journal News did a report on school cafeteria inspection reports in Westchester County. New Rochelle had more "Unacceptable" Inspection Reports (10) than any other district. New Rochelle school cafeteria were the worst in Westchester County and had dozens of violations over a three-year period.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring a new Invasive Vine Removal program on Sunday, March 22nd. It will be held at Ward Acres Park, at the corner of Broadfield and Quaker Ridge Road between 12 noon – 3 pm.  No prior experience necessary. 

New Rochelle High School Varsity Cheerleaders Named Grand Champions

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle High School Varsity Cheerleaders won the Cheer Competition's Division 1 Small Varsity Group on Saturday. The group was named Overall Grand Champions of New York Section One

Last month, the varsity squad also captured the New York State Public High School Athletic AssociationSmall Varsity title and the World School Championship in Orlando, FL.

The New Rochelle High School Junior Varsity team placed 4th at Nationals in February.



2015 New Rochelle State of the City Address Set for March 24th

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce has announced a newly re-rescheduled date of Tuesday March 24th for the 2015 New Rochelle State of the City Address.

The event was originally scheduled for March 5th but cancelled due to a major snowstorm.

The event will be held at the Davenport Club, following the same schedule as the original event (all tickets for the cancelled date will be honored).

Westchester Magazine Ranks New Rochelle High School Among Worst in Westchester

Westchester Magazine has published their annual list of Best High Schools in Westchester.

And once again the survey throws a cold bucket of water on the claims by school administrators, board members and real estate agents who seek to convince parents, community members and prospective home buyers that New Rochelle is a high performing school district. It’s not; in fact, it is one of the lowest performing districts in Westchester.

Seems every spring in New Rochelle we live with deeper and deeper canyons on PineBrook Blvd and just about any roadway in New Rochelle. Clearly par for the course in the northeast with freezing and thawing on salted asphalt roads. What isn't par for the course is the rigmarole New Rochelle goes through to get the job done.  Or to delay getting the job done whichever comes with less cost to the City.

Anyone traveling Pinebrook or Beechmont on a regular basis reaches a frustration level with City Management....
