NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Forty-third Annual Strawberry Festival sponsored by The College of New Rochelle has something special for family members of all ages. Sunday, May ­­­3, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Maura Lawn at the Main Campus, 29 Castle Place in New Rochelle, the College will host a fun-filled day of outdoor activities, music, entertainment, and strawberry treats. While admission is free, fees will be charged for food, games, and rides. Grab your family, and a blanket and prepare for a great day! The rain location is The Wellness Center.

STATEN ISLAND, NY- The Iona College women’s water polo team dropped both games Sunday afternoon, Apr. 12, and claimed the number three spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Despite a strong first period, the team dropped a 19-5 decision to Wagner College in the first of two MAAC matches as the Gaels (19-13, 5-4 MAAC) wrap up their regular season.

Senior Monica Stiles, senior Jordan Carmody, junior Rebecca Mathews, freshman Paige Neary, and freshman Hannah Schultz scored one goal each.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College baseball senior 1B Jimmy Guiliano’s triple with one out in the ninth inning led the Maroon & Gold to a dramatic 7-6 walk off win over Monmouth in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at City Park. The Gaels came back from down two runs in the eighth inning to win their third straight MAAC series and even their league mark to 6-6 after four weekends.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College baseball team split a doubleheader with Monmouth Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at City Park. The Gaels' bats exploded for 12 runs and 18 hits in a 12-3 win over the Hawks in the opener. In the night cap, Iona was two outs away from a sweep before a five-run Monmouth rally resulted in an 8-5 defeat.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY- The Iona College women's water polo team celebrated senior day while playing host for a series of MAAC games Saturday afternoon, Apr. 11. The team honored its senior players Devin Green, Jordan Carmody, and Monica Stiles. Iona took their two games of the day, against St. Francis (16-8) and Virginia Military Institute (17-11).

LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Iona College lacrosse team (5-9, 1-5 MAAC) dropped an 11-5 decision to Siena (7-7, 2-3 MAAC) Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action.  The Gaels were outscored 4-0 in the first period, before the Saints tallied seven goals to Iona's five in the second half.

Sophomore Erin Pugh and freshman Jenna Tolzman scored two goals apiece, while senior Meghan Testoni picked up the final Iona tally. Junior Mary Kate McCormick recorded two assists for the Maroon & Gold. Senior Blaire Nathanson made nine saves in net.

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Iona College softball team split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Monmouth. The Maroon & Gold picked up the game one victory 8-4, before dropping game two 3-2.

In the opener, Iona collected 14 hits, as six players recorded two-hit efforts. Sophomore SS Katie Newton and 2B Lauren Filardi each drove in two runs in the victory.

Rep. Engel Announces Federal Funding to Fix Damages in Rye Playland

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Congressman Eliot Engel, a senior member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is pleased to announce the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded over $5 million in funds to Westchester County to repair areas in Rye Playland damaged during Superstorm Sandy. The allocation includes $1,683,346.50 for repairs to the North Boardwalk, and an additional $3,404,703.65 in funding for permanent work on other areas of the park that were damaged during the storm.
