New Rochelle BID Downtown Farmers Market Grand Opening Set for May 30th

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Downtown BID Farmers Market will kick off its third year on Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m. Join us and Mayor Noam Bramson and downtown Councilman Ivar Hyden for the opening ceremony at 10:00 a.m.

The Market runs every Saturday from May 30th through October 31st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine on Library Green.

Located next to the New Rochelle Public Library on Huguenot Street between Memorial Highway and Lawton Street, the market features more than 25 weekly and guest vendors.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Every summer, the New Rochelle Youth Bureau offers nearly one hundred youth ages 14-21 the opportunity for meaningful employment in an encouraging, mentoring environment. For many, this is their first experience at a professional work site- and testimonials prove that the lessons learned last a lifetime. While the program cost is minimal for such a valuable return- just over $1,000 per student- the number of positions available annually is dependent on grants that vary from year to year.

Three Women's Lacrosse Gaels Earn All-MAAC Honors

EDISON, NJ - Three members of the Iona College lacrosse team were named to All-MAAC teams for their performances during the 2015 season. Junior attack Mary Kate McCormick was named to the All-MAAC Second Team, while freshman defender Gabriella Di Domizio and attack Jenna Tolzmann were named to the All-Rookie Team.

McCormick posted a team-high 60 points on the season for the Gaels, on 29 goals and 31 assists. The 31 helpers set a single-season record for Iona, while she became the third player to record at least 60 points in a campaign.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College baseball team used a three-run bottom of the ninth inning to walk off with a 5-4 win over Central Connecticut in non-conference action at City Park. Rookie CF John Budesa hit a ground ball to shortstop for a game-winning fielder’s choice to lead the Gaels to the win.

Rutgers Tops Iona Softball At Home

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - The Iona College softball team fell to Rutgers 10-0 Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Donald E. Walsh Field. The Gaels trailed by just three runs after the initial six innings, before the Scarlet Knights added seven runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.

Iona was held to just two hits in the contest, both off the bat of sophomore SS Katie Newton. Newton picked up the team's first hit of the day with a one out infield single in the third, before adding another single in the sixth.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- As part of its ongoing commitment to community service, The College of New Rochelle, which has been recognized for five consecutive years on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, engaged its faculty and students in a day of giving on April 16, 2015. Approximately 200 students, faculty, and staff of The College of New Rochelle participated in service projects and collected donations at each of the College’s six campuses as part of the day, which also included a Special Olympics Competition in The Wellness Center on the New Rochelle Campus.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle has partnered with the PACE Land Use Law Center and planning firm BFJ to complete the City’s Plan.  The first public meeting on this renewed process will be held on the evening of May 6, 2015.

EnvisioNR (“Envision New Rochelle”) 2016 will give the public an opportunity to weigh in on important issues regarding the finalization of the Plan. The Plan will provide a framework to guide future development and preservation that reflects current and anticipated environmental, economic and social conditions.

New Rochelle’s New Electric Fleet Unveiled

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The City of New Rochelle in partnership with Nissan of New Rochelle rolled out the City’s first full-sized official electric and zero emission vehicles at a ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday, April 28. The City will also receive two EV charging stations and five complimentary assigned parking spaces for zero-emission vehicles at the New Roc City and Intermodal Transportation Center garages. The vehicles will be used daily by the City’s Department of Development.
