NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- New Rochelle Police, New Rochelle Firefighters and a Westchester County Police Aviation Unit responded to multiple calls of an explosion in the Church-Division garage. Calls came in at about 11:25 p.m. Thursday night reporting a loud noise and a large flash resulting in a car fire that damaged multiple vehicles.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- David Nieves, the father of the toddler who fell out an apartment window, told Talk of the Sound tonight that the ordeal of the last two days has been a nightmare but that by some miracle his son suffered only minor injuries, is expected to make a full recovery and will be released from the hospital tomorrow. Nieves returned to New Rochelle this evening and spoke exclusively with Talk of the Sound.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Westchester Yoga Arts, in conjunction with New Rochelle BID, will usher in summer and honor the International Day of Yoga (June 21) with a special yoga event on the New Rochelle Library Green, on Saturday, June 20.   Hundreds of participants will gather at 1 Library Green (Huguenot & Lawton), New Rochelle NY for the solstice celebration and to practice for a good cause.

All proceeds from the $10 donation class will go to the creation of a yoga program at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle.

Moody’s Assigns Positive Outlook On City of New Rochelle Bond Rating

Moody’s Investors Services has confirmed the existing rating of Aa3 to the City’s upcoming bond refinancing and has assigned a positive outlook to the City’s general obligation debt.  The positive outlook designation enhances the credit worthiness of the City’s debt and means that the City will enjoy lower interest costs on general obligation bonds that may be issued in the future.

ALBANY, NY -- New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Joe Martens and State Department of Health (DOH) Commissioner Howard Zucker, M.D., J.D. today issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the New York City and Long Island regions of New York State for Thursday, June 11, 2015.

The pollutant of concern is: Ozone    

The advisory will be in effect: 10 a.m. through 10 p.m.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- As first reported by Talk of the Sound, a three-year old boy fell almost three stories from a second-floor apartment window at May Street in New Rochelle, NY. The boy fell onto sloped pavement in the area between 35-45 May Street, an apartment complex, and 49 May Street, a multi-family house.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Votes cast by New Rochelle School Board Member David Lacher on May 19, 2015 have been disqualified by the Clerk and Secretary of the Board of Education. Clerk Lisdalia Saraiva, responding to an appeal filed on behalf of the Vincent Malfetano Campaign for School Board, concluded that David Lacher and another woman were allowed to enter the polling place at Albert Leonard Middle School several minutes after polls had closed and then allowed to vote.
