Astorino’s Concussion Taskforce to Develop Model Program For Sideline Management and Post-Injury Treatment in High School Sports

WHITE PLAINS, NY - Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that he has created the Westchester County Concussion Task Force in an effort to develop a model program that will be available to high schools voluntarily to help them address the full spectrum of managing sports-related concussions. Astorino’s latest initiative “Safer Sports” is part of his ongoing “Safer Communities” campaign, which has previously addressed heroin overdoses, youth mental health, emergency response protocols in schools and campus sexual assault.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Beginning this fall, The College of New Rochelle (CNR) will expand its partnership with the New York Theological Seminary (NYTS) to provide clergy and religious leaders with the opportunity to earn both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree through an accelerated program. Students completing the program earn a bachelor’s degree from The College of New Rochelle and a master’s degree from New York Theological Seminary.

Astorino Wins BOL Approval for Revitalization of Playland

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- By a vote of 17-0, the Board of Legislators (BOL) on Monday approved Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino's agreement with New York-based Standard Amusements for the management and revitalization of Playland. Under the agreement, Standard Amusements will invest $25 million in private money into Playland over the next five years, securing the long-term future of the county's iconic 100-acre amusement park in Rye.

Edward Daniel Bradley, Jr., a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died on July 14, 2015. He was 89.

He was born on March 4, 1926 in New Rochelle to the late Edward Daniel and Claire (Parker) Bradley. He served in the US Navy during WWII, and worked for many years as a telephone repairman for NY Telephone. He was a member of the American Legion Post 8, the New Rochelle Elks Club and the Friends of The Irish Christian Brothers.

Salvatore Generoso a life-long resident of New Rochelle passed away on June 20, 2015. He was born on January 17, 1925 to the late Vincenzo and Marie (Pedicano) Generoso. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He owned and operated the prestigious men's retail store "The Mannerly Shop" from 1956-1985. He served as chairman of the Civil Service Commission, member of the Planning Board and Board of Assessment. He was appointed as the City Clerk of New Rochelle in 1987.

Loretta D'Onofrio, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died on June 17, 2015. She was 93. Loretta was born on November 30, 1921 in Ontario, Canada to the late Bruno and Clementina Penna.

She was predeceased by her husband Louis A. D'Onofrio Sr. who died in 1996; her daughter Lucille Rende and her son Louis D'Onofrio, Jr.

She is survived by her son Anthony D'Onofrio; 2 granddaughters , Gina and Michele; 3 great grandchildren and a sister Vera.

With the 2014-2015 school year recently completed, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino today honored students who met an academic challenge he issued last fall to Westchester County students in grades 6 through 12.  The Astorino Challenge in Education, or “ACE,” offered a free season pass to Playland to students who signed up at the beginning of the school year and achieved one of the following two benchmarks during the 2014-2015 school year:
