NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Seven New Rochelle residents were recognized for extraordinary work for the benefit of their community at the annual luncheon of the New Rochelle Council of Community Services held on Thursday June 4th at Beckwith Pointe. At the event attended by 100 guests, two $1,000 scholarships were also awarded to outstanding New Rochelle High School juniors.

The 2015 honorees, representing a number of diverse organizations, are as follows:

WHITE PLAINS, NY --Marissa Brett, president of the Westchester County Association, was one of three to capture the Community Service Award as conferred by United Hebrew of New Rochelle, an assisted care, rehabilitation center, and nursing home. Also honored were Father Martin Biglin, pastor at Holy Name Church in New Rochelle, and Pearl Quarles, former Westchester County Legislator (the first African American), member of the board of United Hebrew of New Rochelle and an active member of various community organizations.

New Rochelle Man Arrested for Public Lewdness

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A 22-year old New Rochelle man, by way of Mexico, was arrested at 176 Union Avenue on Monday July 13th at about 1:30 pm and charged with public lewdness. a misdemeanor.

Witnesses told police that while they sat on their front porch a Hispanic male, wearing a grey t-shirt and shorts, approximately 30 years of age, walked by three times. On the third time, he stopped and began to masturbate, with his penis out of his pants, as he stared at them.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Metered parking payments just got easier in the City of New Rochelle thanks to recent upgrades by LAZ Parking. Using Cale America and Parkmobile technologies, new terminals and mobile applications featuring “find my car software” will enable parking patrons in the downtown area to pay and extend parking not only at “smarter” machines but also through their mobile devices. The rollout will begin in mid-June and will modernize all major City lots including the Intermodal Transportation Center, New Roc Garage, and Library lots.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --County Executive Robert P. Astorino invites everyone to swing and sway to the romantic music of the Big Band era performed by the Milt Gerver Orchestra on Fridays, July 17, 24, 31 and August 7 on the boardwalk at Playland Park in Rye. 

“Playland is known for all of its great bells and whistles—the Dragon Coaster and Double Shot rides are great thrills. But this event highlights one of the simpler delights the park has to offer: a beautiful summer evening on the boardwalk, listening to great music,” Astorino said.
