WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Both the Iona College men's and women's track and field programs and four individual student-athletes were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their academic accomplishments during the 2015 track season.

Senior Andrew Kowalsky, junior Kate Avery and graduate students Rosie Clarke and Tara Jameson earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Individual honors while the two programs were named to the team list.

Bond Refinancing Nets Savings to City

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Taking advantage of continued low market interest rates, the City last week sold approximately $4.5 million of general obligation refunding bonds (“refunding bonds”) to replace higher-interest bonds issued in 2005 and 2007.  The maturity schedule of the refunding bonds mirrors that of the issue being refunded and will produce budgetary savings of $260,000 over the next thirteen years for an average savings to taxpayers of about $20,000 per year.

Trespassing at Public Housing Complex: New Rochelle police observed a man enter the apartment at 51 Winthrop Avenue at about 1 a.m. on July 20th.

Christian Serrano was observed enter the building and respond to the sixth floor where he spoke with a man then went to the fifth floor. Police overheard Serrano tell a man on the fifth floor “this shit better be good, I'm paying for this so this shit better be real good". Serrano and the unknown man then exited incident location and went in separate directions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Iona College athletics program was recognized for its high level of performance, as it placed in the top 100 of both the men’s and women’s standings for the 2014-15 Capital One Cup as well as the 2014-15 Division I Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup.

The Gaels are the only MAAC institution represented in both ledgers of the Capital One Cup.  The women’s athletic program tied for 79th overall in the final 2014-15 Capital One Cup standings released at the end of June. The Maroon & Gold was led by a ninth place finish by women’s cross country.

Thursday, July 23rd at 7:00 pm featuring Twist of Fate. 

What do you get when you mix steel drums, guitars, congas, strong vocals and lots of funky percussion? A great blend of music that sweeps audiences away to a Caribbean island and into a laid-back dancing mood. Local party band Twist of Fate has been performing their unique, fun style of music since 1993, delighting crowds at the Chelsea Pier, local clubs and now – New Rochelle’s Library Green.

Strange Woman Charged with Promoting Prison Contraband that Sickened Prisoners at Westchester County Jail

VALHALLA, NY — Westchester County Police on Wednesday night charged a White Plains woman with passing suspected synthetic marijuana during a July 19 visit to her inmate husband – a substance that sickened prisoners at the jail on several occasions this month.

Ebony Strange, 32, of Martin Luther King Blvd. was formally charged at 8:11 p.m. last night following an investigation by Westchester County Police detectives and members of the Department of Correction Special Investigations Unit.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --County Executive Robert P. Astorino and the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) joined with local State Farm Insurance agents topackage diapers for the Westchester County Diaper Bank today at the JLCW headquartersin Scarsdale. State Farm agents recently conducted a drive that collected more than 4,400 diapers and 2,700 wipes for the county’s Diaper Bank.

NEW YORK, NY --National Cooperative Bank (NCB), a leading lender to cooperative housing throughout the Tri-State area, has arranged$7.9 million in financing for four Westchester County cooperatives.A portion of the funds for each property will be used for capital improvement projects.
