WHITE PLAINS, NY -- Florence Suval Her family 'lit up her life' Florence Suval, 92, of Morristown, N.J., passed away on Aug. 21, 2015. Graveside services will be held today, Aug. 26, at 1 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery, 25 Ridgedale Ave. in Cedar Knolls, N.J. Arrangements are by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover, N.J. For information, please call (973) 366-1700. Mrs. Suval and her late husband, Jack, retired as owners of the Quaker Ridge Hardware Store, a fixture in New Rochelle, N.Y., for many years. She was a member of the Morristown Jewish Center.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- With the closing of Webster Elementary School for most, if not all, of the upcoming 2015-16 school year, this appears to be a good time to end our 5 month hiatus on this series. We will get into Webster School, the Albert Leonard Boilers, Barnard School and more. And don’t worry, we have not forgotten about Scott Empara, the school electrician found to be making bullets in his school district office and some of the other more incredible incidents.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Andrew Peter Barr of New Rochelle passed away suddenly Monday, August 17th, 2015. He was 56 years old. Andrew was a lifelong resident of New Rochelle. He was born in 1958 to Burton and Sybil Barr. He had 2 brothers, one which was his twin Clifford. Andrew graduated New Rochelle High School in 1976 before graduating Iona College with a BBA in 1981. He worked at H. Weiss and Co. Inc. as an Assistant Sales Manager for 33 years. He loved tennis and frequently played at the Mount Vernon Tennis Center and Lake Isle Country Club.

Monroe Volleyball Prepares for the Regular Season

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The Monroe College volleyball team has already started its pre-season practices and will open its regular-season schedule on Saturday, August 22 in a tri-match at Nassau Community College in Long Island.  The team has its home opener slated for Thursday, September 17 when they host Queensboro Community College in the Monroe Athletic Complex (MAC).

The team returns eight players from a season ago.  The 2014 Mustangs finished with a 35-5 overall record including a perfect, 14-0 mark in the MAC.

Astorino Declares Child Support Awareness Month in Westchester

WHITE PLAINS, NY --County Executive Robert P. Astorino has declared August to be Child Support Awareness Month in Westchester County, calling on all noncustodial parents to fulfill their financial obligations to their children. Astorino also congratulated the county’s Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) on collecting more than $75 million in child support in 2014 – more than any previous year.
