NEW ROCHELLE, NY --Ed J. Leake, 85, passed away on August 17, 2015.

Born in Maxton, NC, he was the husband of the late Priscilla Leake. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of V.F.W. Post 392. He was a longtime Foreman from the city of New Rochelle NY, Public Works department, serving for thirty-five years.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman today announced the indictment of Dennis Broccolo, 55 of New Rochelle and Stephanie Vega, 27 of New Rochelle on felony charges stemming from the alleged theft of $69,000 in unemployment benefits. The defendants are accused of twice submitting false applications for unemployment insurance benefits by claiming to have worked for two different companies at which they were never employed.

NEW YORK, NY --Governor Cuomo directed New York State Police to ramp up enforcement efforts as part of a national crackdown on impaired driving. The 20-day campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, runs from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7 (Labor Day) and is aimed at significantly reducing deaths and injuries caused by motorists driving drunk or impaired by drugs. The New York State Police, together with the important work of local law enforcement, will be vigilant in screening for impaired drivers.

Astorino Tightens Visitation Procedures at Westchester County Jail

WHITE PLAINS, NY --County Executive Robert P. Astorino has directed the Department of Correction to implement new visitation procedures at the Westchester County Jail as a preventive measure to limit opportunities for visitors to pass illegal contraband to prisoners.

Beginning Sept. 14, inmates will be limited to a maximum of two visitors during a single visit – down from the current maximum of four.  In addition, physical contact between prisoners and visitors will be restricted to a brief embrace and kiss at the start and end of any visit.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --A Con Edison gas system upgrade in the West End neighborhood may interrupt gas service and travel over the next several weeks in the areas listed below. Crews will be working every day, on weekdays from 7:30 AM till 8:30 PM and weekends 7:30 AM till 3:30 PM. Gas service may be temporarily suspended. There also may be road closures, equipment stored on roadways, and excavation to sidewalks, driveways or lawn areas.
