Iona XC Competes In 21st Annual Meet of Champions

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s cross country team competed at the 21st Annual Br. John "Paddy" Doyle / Iona College Meet of Champions early Saturday morning. The Gaels placed tenth, recording a score of 323 points. Sophomore Natalie Holder paced the Maroon and Gold, placing 27th overall with a time of 24:32.4.

Men's Cross Country Places Seventh at Highlander Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College men's cross country placed seventh, out of 15 teams, at the Highlander Invite at Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania on Saturday.  Mpho Makafone led the Mustangs with a third-place finish.

Makafone, a South African native, placed third overall with a time of 26:40 in the 8K run.  The time was a new course record and season best for him, topping his time from the Fordham Fiasco by 1:17.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College women's cross country team placed fourth out of 15 teams in the Highlander Invitational run hosted by Cairn University in Langhorne, Pennsylvania on Saturday.  Susan Ejore and Nokuthula Dlamini broke the course record in the race.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer program fell in overtime to the Hartford Hawks, 1-0, ending their three game winning streak.

The game was evenly played throughout its entirety, but the Hawks were able score the winning goal in the 97th minute via the foot of Javoni Simms. The senior notched his fourth goal of the season to secure the win for Hartford by knocking in a rebound from six yards out via an assist from junior Brian Richards.

Women's Volleyball Takes Two; Improves to 7-4

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle Women's Volleyball team won both matches of a home tri-match on Saturday to improve to 7-4 overall on the season.  The Blue Angels defeated both Elmira College and SUNY Plattsburgh by scores of 3-1.  In the opener, CNR edged Elmira by set scores of 25-23, 25-18, 20-25, 25-21 and then later got past Plattsburgh by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Despite being a nascent football program, the Monroe Mustangs and ASA Avengers, two New York City based schools, have formed a spirited rivalry in a very short time.  Like many other famous rivalries, there are many memorable moments, and Saturday's game in New Rochelle, which ASA won 42-22, proved to be no exception to that theory.

NEW YORK, NY -- The United States Court of Appeals has upheld a lower court decision of December 2014 affirming the City of New Rochelle’s right to regulate flags flown on City property.

City officials are portraying the case as closed.
