The College of New Rochelle Opens New Site in Yonkers

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The College of New Rochelle celebrated the opening of its new Yonkers site at a ceremony today. The program is the only college degree program offered in downtown Yonkers. The new site is located at the Schoolhouse Terrace Development, a collaborative effort between The Community Builders, Inc. (TCB) and the Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers (MHACY).

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Fund for Educational Excellence will highlight the life and work of composer and musician Billy Strayhorn via an art exhibit and a showing of the documentary film "Lush Life" by Robert Levi at the Museum of Arts & Culture in New Rochelle High School. The exhibit--which is part of the 2015 New Rochelle ArtsFest--will kick off Friday and run through Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The exhibit will be open to the public Monday-Friday from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. And it will be open on Saturday, Sept. 26 from noon to 5 p.m. for special ArtsFest hours.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball team dropped a four-set decision to Marist in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at McCann Arena. Rookie Claire Archibald and senior Kiana McAuley Pomeroy each reached double-digit kill totals to lead the Gaels.

Archibald posted 14 kills - two shy of season best - and recorded nine digs in the loss. McAuley-Pomeroy set career-highs with 10 kills, 20 attack attempts and a .450 hitting percentage. Freshman Mia Bonsignore had six kills and hit .263 and classmate Amanda Gannon added five kils and 11 digs.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --  County Executive Robert P. Astorino invites people of all ages to lace up their running shoes for a road race and festival, featuring a host of exhibitors, during the 2015 Healing Half Marathon and 10K on Sunday, Oct. 11 on the Bronx River Parkway beginning at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

“Come on out to support Westchester Medical Center and get some great exercise while you take in the fall foliage along the scenic Bronx River Parkway,” Astorino said.
