Youth Council Applications Now Available

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Youth Bureau is now accepting applications for its Youth Council.  The Youth Council offers young people grades 8 - 11 the opportunity to be a part of a selected group of individuals who are concerned with youth related issues within the community.  Our Youth Council sponsors community service projects and interacts with other youth organizations throughout Westchester.

All completed applications must be returned to the Youth Bureau Office (City Hall) on or before Friday, October 2, 2015

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Youth Bureau is accepting applications for the STRIVE Leadership Academy.  This program is for youth, ages 11 - 17 years, featuring Dance, Nutrition & Fitness, STEM, Choir, Etiquette Workshops, Special Activities, Mentorship, Tutorial Services and Trips.  

The Academy takes place at the Hugh Doyle Center, 94 Davis Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 10801 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00pm – 6:00pm and Wednesdays from 4:30pm – 6:30pm.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The Iona College women's basketball team announced its full 2015-16 schedule with the release of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate this morning.

Iona will have its first conference game of the year on Dec. 2, at Fairfield. The Gaels and Stags have the spotlight on them as they are the first MAAC contest of the season. The Maroon & Gold's second December league matchup comes two days later (Dec. 4) at the Hynes Center vs. Rider.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College women's soccer team showed why they were ranked 8th in the most recent NSCAA Coaches Poll by defeating Southern Maryland 11-0 over the weekend in a game played in La Plata, Maryland.  The offensive onslaught featured 23 shots and six different goal scorers for the Mustangs.

Volleyball Now 20-0 After Weekend Sweep at Northern Virginia Tournament

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College volleyball team kept a pair of streaks alive over the weekend as they improved to 20-0 to open the year.  Additionally, they failed to drop a set in both matches, beating Catawba Valley 3-0 and Northern Virginia, 3-0.   The team has dropped just two sets all season.

In the win over Catawba, Barbara Maximiano had a match-best 13 kills.  Ashely Ramos led the team with 11 digs and Indira Rojas recorded 23 assists.  The scores of the sets were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-15.

Astorino invites everyone to enjoy a display of model trains rumbling through a Jurassic-themed landscape, take the kids on a scavenger hunt or a wagon ride at the 8th Annual Halloween Train Show beginning Saturday, Oct. 3 at Lasdon Park, Arboretum and Veterans Memorial.

Astorino Seeks Nominations for Youth Service Award

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that the Westchester County Youth Bureau is accepting nominations for the 2015 Rosemarie Siragusa Memorial Youth Service Award, which recognizes adults age 21 and over who have made major contributions towards the youth in their communities through volunteerism. The deadline for submissions is October 5.

“The Rosemarie Siragusa Award recognizes dedicated residents who give back to our youth in the true spirit of community service,” Astorino said. “I look forward to all the deserving nominations.”

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Public Library will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday, October 13th, from 2:00 – 7:00 pm, in the library’s meeting room and theater stage.

The American Red Cross Blood Services depends on committed donors to give the “gift of life” to help ensure that quality blood products and services are always available when and where they are needed by hospital patients. One unit of blood can help save the lives of up to three people.
