WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino will join acrobats, stilt walkers and musicians to kick off Westchester County’s new fall attraction Circus Latino! on Thursday, September 17 at 1 p.m. at Edge-On-Hudson located at 199 Beekman Avenue  in Sleepy Hollow ( directly in front of the lighthouse.) Behind-the-scenes tour opportunities of the circus and other Sleepy Hollow destinations will also be available. Please contact to schedule.

Six NRHS Students Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named the following students Semifinalists in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program (pictured below l-r): Eli Sills, Taylor Ullrich, Oliver Hughes, Rebecca Meisler, Sammy Stone and Gabrielle Altman.  Initially, 1.5 million juniors in about 22,000 high schools took the the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Those with the highest test scores (less than one percent) advanced to the semifinals.

Men's Soccer Comes from Behind to Remain Undefeated with 3-1 win Over Harcum

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --For the first time this season, the Monroe College men's soccer team showed why it was deserving of the #1 ranking it earned in the latest national coaches poll, as it used a strong all-around effort to earn a hard fought, come from behind, 3-1 over Harcum College in a men's soccer game played at City Field on Tuesday.  The remained unbeaten and is now 4-0-1 on the season.

Iona Men's Soccer Blanks Delaware, 3-0

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer team shut out Delaware 3-0 in non-conference action at Mazzella Field. It was the Gaels third straight win and second consecutive shutout.

The Maroon & Gold wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Rookie Daniel Huerta netted the first goal of the game in the sixth minute off a corner kick from classmate Daniel Ocana Garcia.  The freshman Huerta had a nifty back heel finish following a tip from junior co-captain Oscar Gonzalez that left Delaware goalkeeper, Blai Palmi, helpless.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The College of New Rochelle Women's Tennis team fell to 0-2 on the season as they dropped a 9-0 decision to St. Joseph's College (LI) in non-conference action Wednesday evening on Long Island.

The Women's Tennis squad has started the season against two of the top teams in the Skyline Conference, in preparation for HVIAC league play that begins in a little more than a week.  The Blue Angels dropped their opener over the weekend against to 5x Skyline Champions - Mount Saint Mary College, also by a 9-0 score.

DEC Announces Release of Pheasants for 2015 Hunting Season

NEW YORK, NY -- Approximately 30,000 adult pheasants will be released on lands open to public hunting for the upcoming fall pheasant hunting season, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today. The pheasant hunting season begins October 1 in northern and eastern portions of New York, October 17 in central and western portions, and November 1 on Long Island.
