WHITE PLAINS, NY -- In a major vindication for all of Westchester County’s municipalities, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said in a ruling issued today that “there has been no finding, at any point, that Westchester actually engaged in housing discrimination.”

Men's Cross Country Places Eighth at Osprey Open

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College men's cross country team placed eighth at the Osprey Invitational hosted by Stockton University in Galloway, New Jersey, on Saturday.  The scored 222 points, just eight points shy of seventh-place Georgian Court.

Kipkoech Collins, a newcomer to the team from Kenya, placed 19th overall, with a season-best time of 28:03 in the 8K race.  He improved on last week's time by :59 seconds.  Other top finishes for the Mustangs include Tevin Aitken (29:17) and Jaymes Dennison (29:40).  Both of those times were personal bests for the two competitors.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College volleyball team was a poor host on day one of the 2015 Monroe Invitational by sweeping a pair of matches from Harcum and Northern Virginia by identical scores of 3-0.  The team is now 23-0 on the season.  The Mustangs beat Harcum by scores of 25-12, 25-7 and 25-17.  They defeated Northern Virginia by scores of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-7.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's water polo team hosted a pair of CWPA Northern Division foes at the Hynes Center Pool and earned a split witih Connecticut College and No. 12 Brown Saturday. The Gaels took out the Camels 19-5 before falling to the Bears 11-7.

Leading the entire game with 12 players scoring, Iona defeated Connecticut College 19-5 at Hynes Pool.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball team snapped its slide with a three-set sweep of Niagara in its 2015 home opener in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center. The Gaels were led by 14 kills by rookie OH Claire Archibald and a combined 18 kills and .469 hitting percentage up the middle from junior Karly White and freshman Mia Bonsignore in the win.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --  The Iona College men’s soccer team had its most impressive offensive showing of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Niagara 6-1 in its 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opener. Sophomore Marcos Nunez and freshman Daniel Huertas each had two goals and an assist in the win. Freshman Daniel Ocana Garcia chipped in three assists.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s soccer team fell just short of a miraculous comeback losing at Niagara 4-3 early Saturday afternoon. The Gaels trailed 4-0 with roughly 30 minutes remaining, but a flurry of goals in the final third of the game put them within striking distance.

Iida Ahvenainen Joins WBB Roster

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Iona College women’s basketball Head Coach Billi Godsey, and her staff, have announced the addition of Iida Ahvenainen to the 2015-16 roster.

Ahvenainen hails from Finland, where she most recently played in the Women’s U19 league for team Peli-Karhut. During her 2014-15 campaign, the 5’10” forward played in 16 games, averaging 20.3 points per game, shooting 39 percent from the floor, and 16 percent from beyond the arc.

Ahvenainen also grabbed 6.8 rebounds per contest, and kicked in 2.1 assists per game.
