NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Faye Berliner Kantor LEBANON Faye Berliner Kantor, 88, formerly of New Rochelle, N.Y., passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015, at Cornwall Manor, Cornwall. She was the wife of the late Seymour Kantor, whom she had married September 2, 1951 and with whom she shared many happy years. Faye was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 5, 1927, daughter of the late Harry and Faye Sagor Berliner and Minnie Sagor Berliner. Faye enjoyed being a housewife and lived most of her life in New York, living briefly in West Virgina until moving to Lebanon County.

Women's Tennis Edged by St Joseph's Brooklyn

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The College of New Rochelle Women's Tennis team earned their first game victories of the year Tuesday night against St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn), but it was not enough as the Blue Angels fell by a 6-3 margin.

Senior Marie Gomez (New Rochelle, NY) picked up her first win of the season at third singles with an 8-3 victory.  At fifth singles, Iyesoqie Aghahowa (Bronx, NY) earned her first win as well, with a 8-1 win.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men’s soccer team suffered its first conference loss of the season Wednesday evening, falling on the road to the MAAC preseason favorite Monmouth, 1-0.  Hawks sophomore midfielder Andrew Gee scored the game-winning goal in the 35th minute, and despite second half dominance, the Iona offense could not get a shot past junior goalkeeper Eric Klenofsky.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s soccer team lost to Monmouth late Wednesday afternoon, 3-1.  With the loss, the Gaels fall to 0-2 in conference play, while the preseason favorite Hawks improve to 3-0.

The scoring began when Erika Murphy of Monmouth buried an opportunity in the 13th minute of a cross from teammate Alexis McTamney.  The junior attacking combination fired five shots on goal during the game, and Murphy would score her eventual MAAC leading tenth goal of the year later in the contest.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College men's soccer team improved to 8-0-1 on the season with a 3-0 win over Bunker Hill Community College on Wednesday in Charlestown, Massachusetts.  The team posted a 5-0-1 record in away contests this season.

Monroe got off to a slow start offensively, but managed to get four shots on goal in the first half.  Niall Smith had a go at goal in the 27th minute, but his shot was turned aside.  Kalifa Sylla and Gonzalvo Rodriguez each managed shots that were on target, but the game was scoreless at the half.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --The Rider Broncs got the best of the Iona Gaels Saturday afternoon, scoring twice and holding the Gaels scoreless for a 2-0 final. It’s the Broncs fifth shutout in their last six games. Sophomore Charlotte Stuart, senior Kim Marra, and freshman Brianna Hernandez all had shots on goal for the Gaels, however none got past Rider junior goalkeeper Bethany-May Howard, who made four saves on the day. The first offensive strike for the Broncs came in the 16th minute when Ellie Smith scored her third goal of the season off assists from Emily Schmitt and Kourtney Cunningham.
