2016 Golf E-Z Reserve Pre-registration Opens November 7

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that current E-Z Reserve golfers can pre-register for the 2016 Golf Westchester E-Z Reserve program between Saturday, Nov. 7 and Monday, Nov. 30, at the six county-owned golf courses.
The E-Z Reserve program enables golfers with a valid Westchester County Park Pass to book a starting tee time for a series of weeks.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Portfolio Day! New Rochelle High School students interested in pursuing the arts in college had the extraordinary opportunity this week to present their portfolios to college representatives who visited our campus. Organized like a traditional college fair, students talked with representatives one-on-one and showcased their best work. Portfolio Day is a unique and very special event for our students. It was created by Art Teacher Scott Seaboldt and College and Career Center Coordinator Hope Herzog.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Dr. Nicholas T. Macris, of New Rochelle, NY. entered into rest on Wednesday November 4, 2015 at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, he was 84 years old. Nicholas was born on October 27, 1931 in Brooklyn NY to Theodore and Cleonike (nee Gramatas). He was the former Chief of Allergy and Immunology at Lenox Hill hospital in Manhattan, Clinical Professor of Medicine-Weill Cornell Medical College, a Fellow of Rockefeller University and a Retired Air Force Captain.

She worked in the accounting department at Larchmont Yacht Club. After her retirement she spent many happy years traveling between her home in Florida and New Rochelle. Beloved wife of Joseph. Loving mother of Maria Raines (Christopher). Adoring grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visiting Friday November 6, 7-9pm and Saturday morning 9-10:30 am at John J. NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- After a relatively quiet opening to the match, the fifth seeded Iona College men’s soccer team struck iron late in the first half on a penalty kick opportunity, and from there they would hold on to defeat the fourth seeded Fairfield Stags.  With the victory, the Gaels have earned a berth into the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men’s soccer championship semifinals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- An undermanned Monroe Mustangs women's basketball team put in a strong effort, but fell to Rowan College at Burlington County, 71-60, in the season opener on Wednesday night in Mount Holly, New Jersey.  Three Mustangs reached double-figures in scoring in the contest.
Sophomore, Gabrielle Jubinville led Monroe with 20 points and nine rebounds.  She shot 8-12 (67%) in the loss.  Breanna Dennis chipped in with 14 points and grabbed four steals.  In her debut, Jersey City, New Jersey, product, Samantha Hines totaled 12 points and made 6-of-10 shots.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- On November 2, 2015 we were very fortunate to host Anthony Doerr, the 2014 winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novel All the Light We Cannot See.
Mr. Doerr delivered an animated and uplifting presentation to our high school students. He shared his journey as a writer and insight into how this novel developed over the course of 10 years. Ursuline students read All the Light We Cannot See as one of their summer reading assignments and asked thoughtful questions about characters, story elements, and the publishing process.

Manhattan Defeats Iona Volleyball In Three Sets

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College volleyball team fell to Manhattan in three sets in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at Draddy Gymnasium. The Jaspers took the match 25-16, 25-22, 25-18.
Freshman OH Amanda Gannon led the Gaels with a 12-kill, 12-dig double-double. It was her fifth double-double of the season and fourth in the last six matches. She hit .263 in the loss. Freshman OH Claire Archibald posted nine kills, five digs and a block. The Gaels left side tandem combined for 21 of the Gaels 28 total kills.
