Monroe Men's Soccer Falls to ASA, 2-1 in Region XV Championship

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- A week after a an overtime marker from Evan Finnegan gave Monroe a 1-0 victory over ASA, the two sides met in New Rochelle on Halloween night to declare a Region XV champion.  At the end of a hard-fought, physical game, it was the Avengers whom held on for a 2-1 win, ending the Mustangs season with an impressive 11-2-1 record.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College women's soccer team fell to ASA, 2-1, in the regular-season finale from Pier 5 in Brooklyn, New York on Friday.  The teams finsihed the regular-season with equal records and will face each other a third and final time on Sunday at 7:00 PM in New Rochelle, to determine the Region XV Champion.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --  In a match that was replayed after being suspended due to weather earlier in the month, it was Lehman College who outlasted a pesky College of New Rochelle side in the non-conference match.  The final score at the Apex Tennis Center saw the Lightning with a 6-3 margin of victory.

After dropping the 1st and 2nd doubles competition, CNR rallied back to take 3rd singles, as sophomore Iyesogie Aghahowa (Bronx, NY) and senior Shirley Garcia (Bronx, NY) scored an 8-4 victory.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Fresh off picking up their third straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship, the College of New Rochelle women's volleyball team travelled to highly-touted Stevens Institute for a non-conference match Wednesday night.  The end result was a hard fought 3-0 loss to the Ducks by scores of 25-19, 25-17, and 25-14.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- What happens to your brain when lightning strikes? How do we heal emotionally from trauma? The College of New Rochelle will open its classrooms to high school students interested in learning about the collegiate environment during a special event, entitled “Have You Ever Wondered: The College Experience” on Saturday, November 14, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The School of Arts & Sciences and the School of Nursing will offer mini-sessions led by CNR faculty on topics ranging from shark biology to women in Arab culture. CNR tours will also be available during the event.

The first quarter of the Gaels and Engineers matchup was a defensive struggle, with each team only registering one goal.  Junior Chris Ellis scored the first goal for the Maroon & Gold, and the first of two for the utility player.
