Monroe Women’s Cross Country Places Second at the Northeast Invitational

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Monroe College women's cross country team placed second overall in the Northeast Invitational hosted by CCRI from Warwick, Rhode Island, on Saturday.  Nokuthula Dlamini was the overall winner of the race.

Dlamini, a South African, ran a blistering time of 18:45.64, en route to becoming the Northeast Invitational Champion.  Her time was a new course record and was 1:20 faster than the previous course best.

Monroe Women's Soccer Wins Region 15 Championship with 3-1 Victory over ASA

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Forty-eight hours after falling to ASA, 2-1, in a game that could have cemented the Region 15 championship for Monroe women's soccer, the two sides met to decide the championship.  In front of a boisterous, raucous crowd that was dancing and chanting throughout, the Monroe College women's soccer team prevailed, 3-1, to earn its second straight Region XV championship, and took a large step closer to repeating as national champions.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --A balanced attack led the Iona College volleyball team to a four-set win over first place Siena in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action at the Hynes Center this afternoon by the Hynes Center. Five Gaels registered 10 or more points in the win led by rookie RS Taylor Bannister.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College men's cross country team extended its dominance of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference to a quarter century, winning its 25th straight MAAC title Saturday afternoon at Rosedale Park. The Gaels swept the title with a perfect score of 15 for the third straight year as the first seven and 11 of the first 12 runners to cross the line wore Maroon & Gold. The win also extended NCAA Division I's longest active conference championship streak.

Bryant Takes Two From Iona Swimming & Diving

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Despite a pair of wins in the meet's last two events, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the Iona College men's and women's swimming & diving team both lost on the road at Bryant .

The women dropped a 162-100 decision and evened their season mark at 3-3. The men suffered their first loss of the season, 146-116 and stand at 3-1.

The meet, held at the Chase Center on the Smithfield, Rhode Island campus saw the Gaels win eight individual events and the final two relay races on the day.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY --  Iona College women's cross country graduate student Tara Jameson earned an individual Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship in leading the Gaels to a second place performance at Rosedale Park. Jameson was nearly eight seconds faster than the second runner to cross the line. The team finish snapped a 10-year conference title streak for the Maroon & Gold.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Despite an opening quarter lead during an overall strong first half, the Iona men’s water polo team dropped a 17-10 decision tonight to host St. Francis College in a Collegiate Water Polo Association North match.

Sophomore Zach Roper led the Gaels with four goals, while junior Chris Ellis scored two.  Sophomores Patrick Judge, Jonathan Hulbert, Marc Stauble and freshman Andres Guerra each added one goal each.   Senior goalie Matt McCrudden made nine saves and three steals.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- In their final regular season game of the 2015 season, the Iona College men’s soccer team drew against the Manhattan Jaspers, 2-2.  Honoring seniors, goalkeeper Jacobo Aparicio, and manager/director of basketball operations Sean Kassouf, the Gaels finished the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record, and a 5-3-2 mark in the MAAC.
