WHITE PLAINS, NY --  Take your camera to Manhattan this holiday season but leave the wallet home, so says Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino, who was joined by Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony S. Colavita at an Eastchester retailer to encourage Westchester residents to do their holiday shopping within the county.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Chamber of Commerce and the City of New Rochelle carry on a festive tradition this year on Thursday, December 3rd at Memorial Plaza in Downtown New Rochelle.  The Annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree (this year a 22’ Norway Spruce) and the Hanukkah Menorah will be conducted by Bob Marrone, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Noam Bramson and religious leaders of the New Rochelle Community starting promptly at 6 PM.

WHITE PLAINS, NY --  County Executive Robert P. Astorino today announced that former White Plains Mayor Joseph M. Delfino will be the top honoree at the 33rd annual Westchester Senior Citizens Hall of Fame on Friday, Dec. 4. Delfino is one of 34 seniors from 18 municipalities who will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westchester Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown.

Astorino Friday joined with New York Rangers alum Adam Graves, Friends of Westchester County Parks and the Westchester County Parks Department at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla to celebrate opening day of Westchester’s Winter Wonderland with a 27-foot Christmas tree lighting ceremony and special holiday celebration.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Julia Bartlett a life long resident of New Rochelle, departed this life on November 12, 2015. Born April 30, 1925 to Percell and Florence Tazwell in New Rochelle, NY. A graduate of New Rochelle High School. For many years she worked as a teachers aide at Columbus school, New Rochelle. She was a loyal member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sons Percell and Dennis Bartlett, daughter-in-laws Dolores and Louise Bartlett, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband Mordecai Bartlett and son Steven Bartlett.

Monroe Men’s Basketball Defeats Union County College, 97-58

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The near capacity crowd inside the Monroe Athletic Complex was noticeably quiet during the Monroe College men's basketball team's 97-58 victory over Union County College on Tuesday in New Rochelle.  It wasn't that there weren't highlights, because there were many.  It was more like one of those games where the result is never in doubt, so there was a lot less drama in the game; a welcome change for the Mustangs who have struggled of late.
