WHITE PLAINS, NY -- “The alarming increase injudgments recorded in Westchester County in 2015 is indicative of a foreclosure crisis that continues to linger,” reported Westchester County Clerk Timothy C. Idoni who serves as Clerk of the Westchester County Supreme Court where foreclosure actions are heard.  “However, as judgments increased sharply,fourth quarter filings continued to drop, which is on par with what we are seeing across the nation,” continued Idoni.

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- On Monday the Westchester County board of Legislators (BOL) elected it’s leadership team for the 2016-2017 legislative term.  Legislator Michael Kaplowitz (D) Somers was re-elected Chairman and Legislator Jim Maisano (R) New Rochelle was re-elected Vice-Chair.  Sunday Vanderberg was elected Clerk of the Board.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New Rochelle Police Department welcomed eleven police officers on Friday December 18th, at the Westchester County Police Academy Graduation. Sixty men and women were handed their diplomas during a ceremony at Purchase College, after 20 weeks of training at the police academy in Valhalla.

Webster Teachers Move Out of Holy Family, School to Re-Open Tuesday

New Rochelle, NY - Webster Elementary School students are expected to return to their school on Tuesday, January 5 after being temporarily housed at Holy Family School due to a ceiling collapse in room 204 this past August.

The school has passed a thorough structural inspection and received a certificate of occupancy on December 21, 2015. Air quality tests all came back indicating the school is safe and free of any contaminants.  The Fire Marshall’s inspection was done on December 30 and his final walk-through will be on Monday, January 4, 2016.

Federal Court Dismisses Motion by New Rochelle School District Against New Rochelle Fire Department

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The United States District Court Southern District of New York in White Plains, New York has granted a motion to dismiss the an Amended Third-Party Complaint filed by the New Rochelle Fire Department against the the City School District of New Rochelle. The motion sought indemnification by the fire department of the school district in a case brought by a disabled former New Rochelle High School Student and her father against the District following a 2013 fire at New Rochelle High School.

Alternate Side Parking Restrictions Suspended for Winter Months

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Parking regulations are suspended due to street sweeping operations during the winter months from January 1 to March 31, 2016. A complete listing of streets is located in the City Code Article X Schedule 312-84.

Reminder: Parking regulations exist throughout the City for other reasons than just street sweeping. Please carefully review the posted parking restrictions against the list as non-street sweeping related parking regulations will be enforced.
