NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The Iona College women’s basketball program improved to 6-0 in MAAC play, and 10-7 overall with a 79-56 drubbing over Canisius.  10 different Gaels scored as the Maroon & Gold extended the season-long winning streak to five games.

Freshman Alexis Lewis led all scorers coming off the bench with 17 points of five-for-11 shooting.  Sophomore Philecia Gilmore recorded her second straight 15-point effort, and senior Joy Adams managed to continue her double-double steak in just 24 minutes of action, scoring 10 and rebounding 10.

Funding for Critical Bridge Repair Receives Bipartisan Support

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The Westchester County Board of Legislators approved funding through Bond Acts in the amount of $2.85 million for continued repairs to the Fulton Avenue Drawbridge which connects Mount Vernon and Pelham at the site of a major retail and industrial district.  This funding is in addition to $9.37 million which has been invested in the bridge since 2012.

Sarah Brady Named Iona Head Women's Soccer Coach

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Iona College Director of Athletics Rick Cole Jr. announced the appointment of Sarah Brady as head coach of the Gaels' women's soccer program. Brady comes to New Rochelle after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Manhattan College.

"We are very excited to have Sarah join the Iona College family," said Cole. "We look for her high-energy, great passion for the game and both playing and coaching experience to lead the women's soccer program to a MAAC Championship."

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Jerome Lee Kellert, 73, of Plymouth, MA, died on Saturday April 19th surrounded by his family, after a year long fight with leukemia. Mr. Kellert was born in Rocky Mount North Carolina, was a lifelong resident of New York, and had relocated to Plymouth in recent years. Mr. Kellert worked in show business as an agent with the William Morris Agency, managing musical acts during the golden age of rock and roll. He later went on to play an integral role in youth soccer in the town of New Rochelle, NY as his children grew up playing the sport.

Iona College Announces New Programs in Game Development, Project Management Approved

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The New York State Department of Education has approved six new Iona College undergraduate and graduate programs slated to begin in the summer and fall of 2016. The School of Arts and Science will offer undergraduate BA and BS and graduate BA/MS, BS/MS, and MS programs in computer science with a concentration in game development. The School of Business will offer a master of science in project management.
