NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- The evolution of picture postcards and the pleasures of collecting these cameos of our past will be discussed in a free, illustrated presentation by Roderick Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy is the president of Metropolitan Postcard Club and author of several books on postcards, including Lost New York in Old Postcards and Hollywood in Vintage Postcards. He is also the originator of New Rochelle’s Walk of Fame in the Ruby Dee Park at Library Green and the interpretive signs at Glen Island Park. Made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library.

But 55 Iona College students have chosen to spend their time, making a difference, delivering hands-on service across the globe through mission service immersion and academic service-learning initiatives between January 4 and 16.

NEW ROCHELLE, NY -- Learning in Retirement at Iona College (LIRIC), sponsored by Iona College and affiliated with the Road Scholar LLI Resource Network, has finalized its Spring, 2016 catalog of courses and social activities for the eight-week session beginning March 4th. Featured are offerings in art, music, writing, history, science, literature, ethics and politics. A Friday lecture series will focus on “The Thirties”, followed by a film series on The Male Icon. LIRIC membership for the Spring/Summer sessions is $100.

Board of Health Seeks Nominees for Annual Public Health Award

WHITE PLAINS, NY -- The Westchester County Board of Health wants to recognize volunteer efforts by adults and teenagers whose time and talents this past year made outstanding contributions to public health in Westchester.  Nominations for the annual public health service awards are due by Feb. 7.

The Distinguished Public Health Service Award is presented annually to a person or community-based organization, whose efforts serve the public health of Westchester residents but who is not professionally engaged in public health work.
